Hi everyone, picked up a bag of this stuff in p@h recently, I've never seen in there before. It's weird stuff, it looks like a mixture of hay and dried plants/herbs/other forage, but says it's a 'complete food'.
I can't find it anywhere online but I thought I'd see if anyone else has used it. My two like it, I've just been giving them a bit as well as their usual nuggets, hay and veg.

Any thoughts?

I'll take a photo of the bag when I get a mo, it's quite large, metallic orangey colour.

Thanks

All four of my pigs like it!
I'm not too sure about feeding it alone though so I mix a little bit in with their usual nuggets.
I did put it in a seperate bowl once and they ate it before the nuggets so it must be nice!

My 2 love it, I didn't realise it was supposed to be a complete food, I'll have another look at the bag. I give them a small cupful to share every day plus veg and excel nuggets and hay.

I haven't heard of this but did get Nature's Own earlier in the year. It was also a mix of fine hay, grain & other little bits. More of a foraging mix. Mine seemed really happy with it at first but lost interest. I'd bought 4 bags & they get a bowl of it a week & do eat some but it'll last at least another year so not the best.

Yeah it seems more like a forage type thing to me than a replacement for their other food. How strange. Having said that I haven't looked at the ingredients list so I don't know exactly whats in it, but it looks like some of the other herbal/forage mixes we've had.
Also, it smells like stuffing!

Here are some pics of the food:

Mine love it but again I use it as a forage. It does have tiny little pellets in it but they are few and far between. Also have the hammy one and thats a real hit but ive been suplimenting it for him as have no idea when it comes to nutritional values.

I'm glad you've posted this as I was wondering about this food. My GPs like it. I like the advice about using it as a forage. I notice that it contains alfalfa which I endeavour to limit in my GPs diet. It also has bits of dried carrot in it and i pick these out as I prefer to give my GPs fresh carrot and I know this has to be limited.
Does anyone know of any stockists other than P@H as I am avoiding buying stuff from pet shops that sell live mammals.

Can't say I've seen it anywhere else and it doesn't seem to be sold online. Maybe ask at an independent pet shop if they are able to source any for you.

This is really frustrating, I've just gone into pets at home and seen this food. For my dissertation I was looking for a grass based complete food to test for vitamin C depletion and nutritional content, along with a nugget and mix complete food. I wasn't even aware of a grass based commercial guinea pig food and could not find one anywhere apart from the excel food cubes. Now its too late to test this one for vitamin C depletion as I won't have enough time to get all the samples needed.
On second thought they may not make the bag big enough to last a long time and therefore ensure that the vitamin C stays at a level that guinea pigs require.
I just had a look on their website to see the feeding guidelines of their food and there is minimal information about the food (also found a typo - clearly not proof read, oops).
From the drop down menu titled "our pets", then "guinea pigs", there is information about guinea pigs which includes a subheading for feeding. There it states that they give guinea pigs fresh veg and fruit along with a quality feed, like their own Natures Touch. They highlight the importance of vitamin C needing to be supplied in the diet for guinea pigs and state, the best way to provide this is by giving fresh fruit and veg together with a suitable feed. Therefore I believe that they should not advertise it as a complete food if they recommend providing fresh fruit and veg and hay also. They should label it as a complementary food as it still needs to be supplemented with other food components in order to provide your pet with a nutritionally complete diet. =)

Thank you for this information @JRandall106 . There have been quite a few threads recently about dry food and I think that quite a few of us are looking at the best dry food available.

I have tried to contact the makers of this product and the email that came back didn't say much and what it did say was in Spanish.

A few people above have suggested that they will use it as a forage rather than a complete food.

Blimey, well that was helpful of them!
It does look like a really good product to be used as a forage.
The lady I know who is a rodent health advisor, she uses Wagg guinea pig crunch, as there is no artificial colours or flavours in it.
My guinea pigs were really bad selective feeders and so I changed their food to Burges Excel tasty nuggets.
Both of these are complementary feeds which need supplementing with fresh fruit and veg and hay.
I don't know how good both of these are in regards to nutritional content and the requirements of guinea pigs, but I will be looking at both of these foods as part of my dissertation so it will be interesting what I hope to find. =)

Hi this may sound silly but my guinea pig weighs 50g and the feeding guideline says 50g of food per 500g of body weight how would i work this out?
thankyou
I would double check your guinea pigs weight. That weight would be below the healthy new born weight of 70-100gms, when was it born? Also that sounds like a lot of pellets adults shouldn't really have more than 30-50gms and they sometimes weight over 1kg!
