Hi have adopted a 12 week old pig she’s had a really rough time and a persistent uri which vets are treating with baytril and ronaxan and metacam bislovon powder was introduced Monday I’ve been giving it orally but the nebuliser I preferred has finally come do I use saline solution instead of water in the water channel and how much of the bisolvon powder with water in the medicine chamber don’t want to get it wrong as afore her also can you add her baytil to a nebuliser any info is appreciated

I use F10 antiseptic in mine as advised by the vets for URIs. Make sure it's the antiseptic not disinfectant though. I buy the ready mixed one. I get it on line and google it each time to see who has it at the cheapest price. My vets prescribe 15 mins 2 x daily but you should check with your vets for the length of time for your piggy.

I no it’s 20/30 mins got that on the sachet I e used f10 before the disinfectant though when we had ringworm on pigs and cage I’ll have a lock on line thanks

Yes saline, not water.

You can nebulise baytril but you will need to ask your vet for injectable baytril as the oral stuff will just foam in the neb.

I've only ever given bisolven orally so i can't advise on that one sorry.

Bisolvon is best given orally.it dries up the excess mucus.nebuliser will not be as effective.pinch of bisolvon mixed with one ml of water and syringe slowly into mouth is the most effective way.as piggieminder suggested f10 antiseptic solution is the best for nebulising.antibiotics nebulised are very effective this way.ive done this with my piggies with URTI with remarkable results.under supervision of my exotic vet.

She’s bought 15 weeks now you think a small small pinch is the water orally xx gave her the nebuliser before got this post she seems clearer than she was she’s been treated since she was first brought to the pet store we think she’s a rescue x they thought she had kennel cough she doesn’t cough it’s mucus nasally and bit snot was sneezing every breath got it down to about 10 x in a day little snot but hugely improved thanks everyone

I give a pinch of bisolvon powder in either 1 ml of water syringed, or sprinkled onto a thin slice of juicy cucumber or a piece of dampened romaine to make sure it all gets consumed. I’ve never put it in my nebuliser.
For nebulising you should use F10 antiseptic. This is different from F10 disinfectant. You can buy it online either ready mixed or in concentrate format. But the antiseptic one is the one to use in the nebuliser in addition to your antibiotics. Only put antibiotics into the nebuliser if you have been specifically prescribed them by the vet and have the right dosages and medium for the nebuliser

I presume they mean Bordetella bronchiseptica. Its sensitive to enrofloxacin (Baytril).

Yes she’s on baytril 0.26 ml and ronanaxan she’s definetly not sneezing as much but when you pick her up you can hear it in her nasal canel xx thought she had a weird turn after the bisolvon in the net which is what vet said was best never reacted to the one I gave orally kind regards Cheryl
