Once a guinea pig is clear of fungal what are the chances of it re appearing 3 months later ?

You have to be pretty unlucky... but it could theoretically happen if just a spore was transferred. :(

Ok, thanks. Just someone who adopted 8 weeks ago has had their guinea at the vets but vet not sure so treated fo mites too with ivermectin injections just incase and adopter wants a refund of vets fees. U know the guinea was clear 4 weeks prior to adoption and all hair fully grown back x

If the diagnosis is not clear and it is 8 weeks after the adoption and 3 months after the piggy has been given the go ahead by the treating vet, then it should be on the cost of the adopters in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunatley i self treated inc their mother who i still have and she is absolutely fine. Just feeling a bit disheartened :(

Please don't let one person make you feel bad, you are doing a great thing for the piggies

I hoped that i would gain a good reputation where people would want to adopt from me but worried that will be knocked on the head :(

Thanks for the support, i really appreciate it :)

Chin up i suppose :)

The usual quarantine period for upsets during the rehoming process is 2-3 weeks; by then, any problems should become obvious. 8 weeks is a bit long.

Sadly, it's the people that make rescue life often very exasperating!

Well the truth is these guinea pigs were rehomed for me through another reputable rescue before i decided to do it myself.
I just feel i am been solely blamed but dont just think it is my responsibility.
I was just told the adopters would email to arrange collection/drop off and could i assist with bonding x

Well i thought it was odd and I'm a bit upset over the message i recieved from the rescue. I have been chatting to the adopter and she has been nice about it and never mentioned getting the money reimbursed it was the rescue who mentioned it.

It sounds to me that you did all the right things. And I agree that you shouldn't be held responsible after this amount of time. Don't let it get you down. Seems like the other rescue is looking for someone to blame. x

I'm really sorry that you have had this experience. I have dealt with fungal infections before in piggies and in other animals and I would not think that a re-infection after 8 weeks of being clear was that likely.
