If you have a pair of boys and no females, then there is no need to neuter them at all. It won’t change behaviour, it won’t make them happier or healthier
The only benefit will be that if one passes you have the option to bond the one left behind with a sow without having to wait and having the single piggy on their own for too long (they’ll already be safe if you neuter in advance)
My pair consist of a one year old neutered boar (Arthur) and an older (about 4) boar (Vlad). I got Arthur when Vlads companion died, and thought it would be better to have him neutered so that when Vlad pops off before him, he can have either a sow or boar companion. Actually the rescue I got him from has their boars neutered anyway, so it wasn’t my choice, but I would have done it anyway.
