Can you please tell me how much your vet charges? mine has just quoted £30 which sounds ok.

That, to me, is a fantastic price. I had one of my boys neutered last year at a cost of £45.69 & prices have gone up since. :)

I would be very cautious, Ruth. I would encourage you to ring other veterinary practices in the area to enquire about their prices, and their experience and knowledge of neutering cavies.

My grandmother always told me, 'If something appears too good to be true, then it probably is'.

However, the price of neutering varies across the Untied Kingdom.

Over here in Dublin, we just paid €92! Everything is more expensive over here though, my vet was really good.

Our vets is quite a lot cheaper for most things its sort of a no frills vet, they only charge £25 for cats. But they are a bit crap with piggy's teeth.Thankgod I found AP:)

I was only asking about the price because I am having trouble with Max and Sammy, I have had to split them up. and have asked Clairelove if she would like to have him[max] back and I would pay for nuetering if she wanted it done. I am not going to get it done myself.

As it is I think I am going to split the hutch with a wire middle and try and keep him, I have another hutch but it goes on top and he wouldn't be able to see the others.

I don't like the thought of giving any animal back:(

Mine cost £60 plus some pennies (can't remember exactly) for each of my two boys that have been done. Quite pricey, but from what I read on other threads, the general check ups are cheaper than what most people commented that they paid. So over time it would even out.

I'm also very happy with my vet so don't mind the amount.

my vet charged me £40 per pig back in june last year but that also included the follow * visit about 3/4 days later, check that the fee includes this and ask about whether he has done many guinea neutering operations before.

I was happy with mine as he said he did a batch of 30 from a rescue in his old practice and they all were fine so that really gave me the confidence, i had no problem with mine either!

£51 for mine .Had Roger done today he seems fine.He is the 14th piggie I have had done.

I think both of mine were around the £55 mark.

If you did get him neutered you could always put him in the hutch above with a lady friend.
