BubbleSqueak

I went into the Nottingham Pets at home today with my sister just to get some food and some hay for my two adored piggies Bubble and Squeak. After getting what i needed, i had a wander to the adoption centre! and I'm so glad i did. I found 18th month old Letto (already named), a tricolour male guineapig. He had been there for 3 weeks after his owners brought him in because he was fighting with their other guineapig. He also has a scarred cornea (his eye is red, but it doesnt appear to cause him harm, but we arent sure if he can see) Any advice on this would be great. The man said he would need no treatment for this and that he would need to remain a lone pig.

Well, i fell in love with him, seeked approval from my mum (whose house i live under so therefore have to) and my uncle who takes care of my current piggies when I'm holiday. After them both saying yes, i brought the little man home along with a cage and his favourite food, and he is now next to my boys. Will this be okay? He is unbelievably friendly, and is taking food from me, and very inquisitive.

Heres a photo of him, i will get more when he is settled in.

petshop piggy-letto

he is a gorgeous boy, firstly i would quarentine him for 4 weeks in case he has any illness.
secondly i would take him to the vet and have him checked out especially his eye, i NEVER believe petshops.
thirdly once quarentined i would try to bond him as again i don't believe petshops when they say he should be alone. if he is friendly with you then he might be friendly with another guinea pig.
good luck with him and good for you for getting him:)p:)p:)p he looks a real sweetheart and a trace of piggy lips made for xoxoxoxoxoxo hoping he gets better soon but i would 1. quarentine(give teddy to cuddle with) 2. vet to be checked out and 3. slowly try to bond with another piggy after quarentine. keep us posted! he is a darling:rose:rose

He's a handsome chap!
he should be fine i have one similar Herecles who does not like other boys but he's happy in his own cage next to the others
But Caterpiller i was told similar but now lives in my 'boar pit' of 5 boys with lots of space ( 10ft by 13ft run)
I'd keep a close watch on the eye wound and if it looks dodgy get him to the vets nasty things eye infections
BUT ENJOY he looks lovely x

Thank you for all your comments. Firstly, do i need to quarantine him even if he isnt in with any other piggies? The man at the pet shop seemed surprisingly knowledgable and said his eye wound was old and it looks to be the case, just red..

as long as you wash your hands after touching him it should be alright, eyes are very delicate parts of the body i would take to the vet to have it checked to see if infected due to being red and whether he can see through it. good luck with him.:rose:rose:rose

What a gorgeous boy! :) WELL DONE for adopting him......and good luck with his eye! :)

Hi everyone. I left little letto to settle into his cage last night as obviously its been a big move for him. He ate his veggies though so I'm thinking thats a good sign that he's settling in.
Well today. i brought him out and doorstairs with me where he had a nibble on some veg. He seems perfectly happy and can smell my boys and climbs up the cage to see them. His eye doesnt seem sore at all. Basically instead of having a black eye, its red with a white circle in the middle (I'm guessing this is the damaged bit). Does anyone have any experience with eyes? Its just I'm going on holiday saturday and he'll be staying with my uncle so just want to make sure he's ok. He runs around and he doesnt seem to be in pain.
Ive taken some more photos of him today for you all to see. hope you like them.

He's a precious little soul and so friendly considering his start to life, i do think he has been well looked after though.
