I was watching the new babies (1 day old) in the food bowl the pellets are huge, I feed my piggies on burgess excell and there no way a tiny baby could get thier little mouths round a huge pellet. I am still switching the mum over from muslie type food and she prefers the pellets. Should I put another small bowl or two in with some sort of smaller pellets? I have been cutting veggies really fine for them. Just looking for a bit of advice on this as its been a long time since I had mini pigs when I last had little ones pellets had not been thought of.

pets at home pellets are smaller probably half the size if that helps

I recon put them in a paper bag & give them a tap with a rolling pin - or baseball bat if you're that kind of girl!

Do as Hils said (brilliant thinking O0). I would defiantly keep the babies on Burgess. O0

Hate buying from there though. Thanks think I will get some later just a small bag.

I went out this afternoon to buy more hay and was going to ask if they could get wagg optimum pellets in and they had a bag. It cheered me up no end first time I had ever seen it anywhere. Lady that owns the shop is ok and shes going to start buying it in for ME :)I have put some in all the bowls and I think the piggies prefer it to excell.

I didn't know they did a pellet - I'll have to take a look when I'm next at yours. Is it the new P@H near us thats selling them PP?

Cavy cuisine by oxbow is really small pellets and is timothy hay based. I think you can only get it online though!

I know but its so pricey :D the optimum pellets come a close second to oxbrow then excell. I have been looking for the optimum pellets for a very long time. I do not like to buy over the internet much. I like to be able to buy stuff like that local incase of an emergency you know the kids spill it all over the grass ;) The shed lot have barely touched the optimum. Babies and mum love it and Treacle all seem to love it so far.

Pumkinpiggie, ask your Asda to get it in for you,my hubbys mate is a manager for Asda and if 2 customers ask if they can get a product in they will get it for you, just make 2 telephone calls asking them to do this for you,a little white lie won't hurt :)

I used to work there and I have asked more than once and its still not stocked locally. I even rang and emailed head office about it. Its fine though now owner of the local petshop is going to but it in for me :) if they all prefer it I will buy the sacks :)
