Hello all!
I am sharing a sweet and tragic story that happened this morning! It was a good and a hard day here at the rescue!

Here goes:
So this morning at 6am my hubby got a call that a lady had found a plastic bag in her trash can... and it had guinea pigs in it! To be exact... it had 6 guinea pigs in it! She asked us to come and pick them up. So we got in the truck and drove to her house, there we met her and were handed a re-tied bag... My hubby handed it to me.
It was very cold to the touch, telling me the animals might be dead! I walked back to the truck and got in, once in the truck I opened the bag... I WAS SHOCKED! In the bag there was a female adult guinea pig and 5 babies! The female had terrible wounds that looked like bludgeoning and chemical burn and was barely breathing😭😭😭😭😭... next to her were her 5 babies. 2 were crushed (by human force), dead.😭😭😭😭 I started crying and told my hubby to drive as fast as possible. He knows by now I only cry with the worst of our rescues! I picked the mother up and held her... telling her to hang on! With my other hand I pulled the 3 unhurt babies out of the bag and started warming them in my shirt.
Once we reached home my hubby rushed the three babies into the house and put them with Davy Jones, our best foster mum. I ran to the ICU building and started caring for mum. I got her on IV drip and a million other things... but the blows had fractured her spine and skull. So I made the hard choice to put her to sleep. My hubby came in a hour later to find me on the floor sobbing for this tiny, valiant mother I had just been forced by her injuries to put her to sleep!
It also made me decide I need to make a blog and YouTube Channel for TinyPaws and finish the long avoided SPCA registration process! (I wanted to avoid taxes and crazy high building prices) All this I hope to do as soon as I can take a few day break from saving lives!

I don't know what to say that's just way to many emotions to handle I'm glad you were able to save some of them though

Also... Flipping back through the SPCA book about registering with them... I see why I didn't and am not going to register!
1. It has too many euthanasia rules, Older animals are supposed to be euthanized to "make way" for "more adoptable" animals!
Not Ok by me!
So never mind... SPCA has to many problems that could hurt my beloved guinea pigs. (Also I am pretty sure that is what stopped me originally!)

Oh gosh that's awful, how do people like this lady find out about your rescue?

What a day you are having.sleep tight mummy and babies. And I hope that the surviving babies do well.

Oh my word :( How can people be so cruel! Sleep tight little ones, sending lots of healing vibes for the surviving babies.

Some people are sickeningly cruel, there are no words for them, hope the three little babies pull through x

She called the local rescues in my area and they kept telling her to go to me. Many of the larger rescues have their hands full with cats and dogs. And I specialize in pregnant, nursing mothers and baby rehabilitation. Most Rescues don't.

The three that survived are doing excellent with Davy... she is a amazing foster mum! And excepts any babies! They have only small injuries and these are healing very rapidly! I will post pics of them with Davy tomorrow! They are currently in my close management cage... which is literally a huge Kaytee cage in our bedroom for 24 hour monitoring!

That's great. I only asked as I was looking for more information on your rescue. As it was early morning here and I assumed you'd be fast asleep I tried Google and Facebook but couldn't find anything

Oh my goodness, that it awful- my mind keeps skipping between how awful the person who did it must be and how the person who rang you handed them to you still tied up in the bag 😥 I can only imagine what that was like for you first hand!

I’m so glad the surviving babies are doing so great, Davy sounds like a fab foster mum!

Well done to you too for taking them in and giving them such love and good care 🙂

Sending love to the surviving babies.

Do you have a website for your rescue? always nice to be able to keep up to date with rescue developments, also do you have a youtube channel? I love looking at members youtube channels when i get time. Always nice to see others piggies

I'm so upset reading this and again we have to witness how horrible some are.
Yourselves and others like you correct the balance and if I lived near you would offer support etc.
You are doing great guys and pls love them little ones.
RIP Mummy Pig and your 2 babies because of a wonderful person you have to wait a long time before you see your other babies until then sleep well.

That is largely because "TinyPaws" only "started" a year ago... but I started rescuing at 18 (the day I got my Drivers License
😜
) and I have always wanted to start rescuing under a name... so at 35 I made TinyPaws and have been so busy rescuing since that I haven't had time to rest long enough for making a website or a Facebook page! That is a hopefully soon to be!😁
And I do prefer word of mouth and rescue referrals because I don't get constantly bombarded with cases that are breaking my heart because I want to take them on but are too far away. Although I have gone out of state to help rescue a bunch from a guinea pig mill. Also my town is medium sized (proudly try's to say it is a city) and in the country so most people know me and most of the rescues are dumps because of the "rural" setting.
