Hi
So, my 3 boys are almost 2 years old, and I've noticed the last few days that there's been boar glue on their fleece and Porky who's housed alone had it stuck to his bum and I had to cut it out :vom: the dominant boar has been mounting his housemate more than ever as well! I've never seen boar glue anywhere in the cage or on them until now, I just wondered if there may be reason that it's all happening now and with all of them! Any ideas?

Poor you! One of the boys must have had a hormone spike; they can happen occasionally even as adults and must have got it everywhere. Guinea pigs react very sensitively to pheromones. Males have theirs as well as sows. ;)

Haha thanks- I hope it settles down soon! their bums are a bit stinky as well, i might give them a bum bath. I managed to get most of it before it dried on:vom:

Lucky you! I found it a real pain getting boar glue off one of my sows' nose. Neutered boars can do it as well...

Oh no! It was probably there for weeks- not good! All my boys are intact, When I went to the vets she said the dominant boy would have to be neutered to stop him from becoming a humping nightmare.. I was like uhh... no :mal:

Yup, it's called 'glue' for a reason :)) and gets everywhere! :vom: Boys will be boys eh!

If Porky is housed alone, I wonder how he got it stuck to himself? :hmm: wonders never cease! :)) I've had 'fun' a few times chopping clumps of fur to remove boar glue.

That's the joys of Boars. Lol. I don't know how many cage liners and beds have it on them. Lol.

Porky is a very messy boy anyway, so I reckon he was sitting in it for a few hours and it went crusty :coat: It may have been one of the others- as they only have a mesh divider in between them!
