Hey all, just aquired a new little fella that I'm going to call dougal cos he will be a mobile mop. What i want to know is how long I should leave him settle and how much handling is involved to get him nice and tame. I am more used to rats than the piggies and have never lived with one. Know the care basics but want him to be a happy fella.

welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: usually leave them for 1-3 days to settle in, usually talk to them and be where they can see you. are you getting dougal a friend? as piggies like friends. when you handle him, he may run away cause his scared but if when you catch him you reward him with his favourite food he will soon learn that handling means treats. at play time talk to him, stoke him etc, at grooming talk to him and stroke him. perhaps stick you hand in the cage and offer him food from your hand. it will take time and patience. hoping dougal settles in and you and dougal will have a long happy relationship. and hoping he will be popcorning around in no time. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Watch out, they are addictive. I started with 2 and now have 5. ;D ;D
