New Friends For Ellie And Barley - Maud And Robyn

Oh dear, such complicated little characters. I wish I could make my four intone happy herd but it's not going to happen. I went to Pets at Home over Christmas and saw a gorgeous lone piggy sow called Galaxy up for adoption. I actually enquired about her but chickened out in case I couldn't integrate her into either of my pairings, as I have two closely bonded pairs. I do wish they would all get along, but then it's their differences in personalities that make them so charming.
Good luck, I do hope you find a good solution for all of them xx

It can be really difficult can't it. I have come to the conclusion that Maud and Robyn ideally need to stay as a pair and so do Tabs and Thumbles. Last night Tabs and Thumbles nearly fell out after Maud chattered at them through the grids which then set Tabs off and poor Thumbles got scared. In their old cage they couldn't really see any other pigs. Tabs has also always been a chatterer too. So now there is a towel up so they can't see Maud and vice versa. We are wondering if something happened with Maud before she went to rescue that has made her like this and it is most likely fear bless her. Thank goodness she has Robyn. She does seem to quite like Millie's herd though so maybe one day we could see but I will see how she is between now and then. Plus Amy could be a cow.

As for Barley, we tried him last night on our laps with Mabel, Emma and Toffee and he was so happy and excited and they took him licking their rear ends quite well. Didn't try Truffle as she is very skittish and would have just froze to the sofa. He has now realised he can see them from his cage too and has been interacting with them through the grids, so it is all a bit more promising. He was much brighter last night too and was even popcorning.

Yes it is, and the only possibility really unless we take him dating.

Fingers crossed they will accept him, girls I find are way more fussy about there boar's. I've never had issues with the boys, it's always the girls - the boars just think 'woohoo'.

Barley had some time with the girls last night but they aren't quite ready. Mabel got herself cornered so started chattering which made Emma freeze to the spot. Toffee is in season so humped Barley more than he humped her and he was getting annoyed. Truffle stayed hidden under the towel, stuck her head out and sniffed him and then hid again. So they are separate for now and we will continue with interaction through the grids (which is still positive) and take it slowly. I think he is happy knowing they are next door. We even had some popcorns when he went home. Toffee and him are really cute together through the grids so may be possible as a pair, but would not really want to split her and Truffle up, though they are not that close and Truffle tells her off a lot.
