We've recently adopted two boars (Magic and Merlin), about 2 weeks ago. Before we adopted them they lived together at the rescue center and been sucessfully bonded.

To begin with everything was fine and they seemed to get along ok with the exception of the odd rumblestrut, however more recently they've started showing alot more dominant behaviour.

We just a bit worried because the last few days they've spent alot of the time arguing and bickering one or other is on top of the other and every so often they will be chattering their teeth at eachother. Is this fairly normal and is it likely to settle down?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Can I ask how old your boys are, and what kind of setup they are in? It does sound like normal dominance behaviour and if they are reaching the hormonal teenage stage then this could be causing the added tension. Setup also has a lot to do with it too, boars need plenty of space and two of everything so they can't squabble over items or food.

How old are your boys? All piggies need to re-establish their dominance in any new territory, so that is what you are currently seeing. It should die down unless your boys are in the middle of their teenage hormones between 4-14 months of age.
