Hi...i am looking to home two baby piggies....would appreciate some general advice and tips when choosing etc from all you experts :-). Not sure on boys or girls etc etc...any tips much appreciated as will be first time piggy owner. Thanks. Debbie x

Hi Debbie. Welcome to the forum. It is great you are researching into guinea pigs before getting them. The best place to get guinea pigs from is a rescue. With a rescue you will get healthy, correctly sexed and bonded piggies. There is a rescue locator were you can find your nearest one.

Either boars are sows are great. The difference with sows is you can add to a pair if you ever want more as any number of sows can live together. Some rescues offer a neutered boar and a sow pair too. They are often the closest of bonds. Either way, boars or sows do not matter.

As a first time owner I would suggest you get adults rather then babies as they are easier to handle.

Thank you for reply....would rather re-home unwanted piggies....wil have a look on the rescue page see if there are any local to me. Thank you again for reply x

Hi I am mum to 10 sows ,wouldn't know where to start with boars.Rescue is a good option.Four of mine are rescues.Have you thought about housing yet and whether they will be inside or out?
