Hi all
I had 2 guinea pigs(Bugsy and Harry) and Harry passed away last month but Bugsy's looking a bit lonely- can I get a new guinea pig to keep him company- he is 2 years old ?

I am sorry for your loss! But, yes, you can!

Ideally you try to find a rescue that will allow you to bring Bugs with you, so he can choose his new friend himself. We call that "boar dating". That way, you can make sure that Bugs is happy and you will run a much, much smaller risk of ending up with two single boars. A reputable rescue will always take back their boar if things go wrong.

Please contact rescues beforehand, as this website is currently not up to date. Not all rescues will allow you to bring Bugs along.

So sorry to here about your loss.

And yes you can. My male guinea pig was 1 and a half when we bought him a new baby friend:)

As it's best to get a younger one so the older pig can have the dominance.:)

went down to the atopt center with bugsy and he pick out this little chap his name is spike now ive got him home do i put them in together or seperate

When i introduced my two boars i put them on the floor with a treat, so they can gradually make there way up to each other...they will do it in there own time:)
