You could try using a cosy to pick them up with. Kind of usher them in and lift it (making sure they're supported by your hand) works a treat :)

Hi and welcome!

You may find the pick-up video in our tutorial video section on the top bar helpful: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/videos/

We have got a lot more information for new owners at the top of our various Care sections, but you are welcome to ask any questions you may have.

With members from all over the world, we find it very helpful in always being able to give you the best advice and recommendations for your location straight away if you added your country, state (or for the UK) your county/city. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. In the same section, you can also upload your avatar, that is the picture that always appears with your name in every post you make.

I've had my boys for over 3 years now & still neither likes being picked up although they love strokes & cuddles once I've got them. I always have to get them into a cuddle cup to pick them up out of their cage. Usually involves little pushes on the tushes with a feather duster to get them in, except when it is time for them to go back into the cage. Then all I have to say is "who wants to go home?" & the little jump right into the cups.

Hi Welcome to the forum. We use this method often to pick up our piggies and started doing it after having a piggy that hated been picked up and would get so stressed out while we attempted it

My jellybean still gets nervous sometimes when it's time to be picked up and I've found that she's more comfortable when I place her little tent in the cage and once she crawls in, I pick her up that way. Just make sure you support your piggies when you lift them. She's gotten way better though, now she only needs her tent every once in awhile, it's more of a toy for her now.=] good luck!
