Hiding but still close to the rest

The wee bully...

All together!

I talked to the rescue lady and she repeaded some stuff about introductions that I really needed to hear... I can't wait to have them home in the real cage, but we have so much nice grass and stuff here :)

Oh, here we go again... I wish they would just be nice! It breaks my heart!

Ha, Mette-Marit looks the picture of innocence in the photo. One would never believe she was being naughty rolleyes just like little children putting on that innocent look.

They are all gorgeous and look very happy in the photo. Mine won't even stop squabbling for photos rolleyes. It breaks my heart too. I want them to be happy and nice to each other.

In my experience it is usually the undersows whose postion in the tribal hierarchy is threatened by the newcomer who are playing out the dominance behaviour. That is normal for a group!

As long as there are no real fights, you should be fine; just sit it out!

PS: How about Desiree (the desired/wanted one), after the first Bernadotte queen and the odd Swedish princess since in case you want to continue with your royal theme? Otherwise, I still love Astrid Lindgren's Ronja/Ronya! Or Malin for another "M" name?

Whatever, your new girl is simply stunning!

Aggressive behaviour and when does it get dangerous?

Awwww hope she settles in soon. She really is beautiful!

It's always the ones you don't expect! When Orson went in Sizzles (the youngest) gave him such a hard time she was a right madam for a few days. I felt sorry for him. Now he chases her round all the time with a glint in his eye ;) - it's righted itself!

I have to say she's gorgeous! Hope it settles down soon.

x

She is beautiful, I hope they all settle soon and sort out their issues (Naughty Mette-Marit)

Mette Merit, that cheeky little tyke. The new guinea is gorgeous, what a cute little fuzzy ball in between the 3 smoothies. I'm sure they'll work it out, hopefully soon!

It's trotting along... Mette-Marit still makes her run, but she eats and so. I know it has to be this way but still! Wouldn't it be nice if they just started licking her ear instead?

I know - piggies have to spell everything out in full letters what we humans can just hint at and be understood. That makes it so difficult to sit by and watch.

She's quite still, sits in one place... Is she just checking stuff out? Right now I'm kinda happy they chase her about sometimes so she doesnt't sit herself to pee problems!

Just let her be; she'll be OK!

Remember you first at school? Suddenly in a strange environment with strange people? As long as there is no violence, they'll settle down OK.

I think that's normal - Dolly met the big herd remember and she did the same for a full day then started being a bit braver.

Give her a little time - I do empathise, it's so so hard to watch it. Poor little girl.

Thinking of you and her.

xx

It's so fab having this forum! It's one thing being prepared for something to happen and another getting support while it does it!

There has been no violence, thankfully, just chasing. She's just a wee teenage pig and probably has a thing or two to learn!

I love being on holiday in Gothenburg but at the same time I would like to be home with the real cage and stuff. What do you think... when we get home, should I let her check the cage out before I let the others in?

She'll settle down in no time, btw she looks like a teddy absolutely gorgeous x). Wonderful additional to the piggy herd! xx

I think a fresh start for all piggies could be a good idea... a quick trip to Ikea for a new 'bonding fleece' might be in order! :))
Also, if Mette-Marit is soooo insecure, you may want to make a special effort with her with cuddles and gradually bring newby in... with lost of treats... the way to a piggy's heart is MOST DEFINITELY through her stomach!

Bonding fleece - definitely! I don't know why I didn't think of it myself! As for the cuddle Mette-Marit part... well, for Mette-Marit I'm not exactly a point of security... She has only once eaten something while I've held her but she does take stuff in the cage! But they get heaps more treats and goodies now thinking they will accept a newbie easier if food is plentiful.

I wasn't sure if Minx was settling in here at first. It seemed to take ages for the others to stop chasing her round (especially grumpy Flumpet) and for her to stop running away screaming. She's been here a month and yesterday I saw Delilah grooming her. It was very sweet. They are all fine together now but she definitely is the 'bottom' pig, although she's very cheeky with it. :)

Awww, so cute! She's young so it's only natural she comes in at the bottom... I hope my group turns out like yours!
