I'm so sorry i've just seen your thread......
RIP Rascal run free at the bridge, enjoy nibbling on lots of fresh grass and sweet dandelion leafies and have fun popcorning thru the lush green meadows, you'll be so very sadly missed by your grandpa and mummy and friend Oreo but NEVER ever forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and lots of loves from Glynis, Velvet and Onyx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky ............ :(

Good luck in finding a little friend for Oreo, as Pepperdog said give him a little stuffed toy just be careful there's nothing he can chew off.
I'm so sorry for you all BIG HUGS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
My girls send Oreo some little kisses and some little cuddles from me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I did collect Rascals body from the vets last night, but I didn't put him in with Oreo. I had thought about it, but then the thought that what ever Rascal had, may be contracted by Oreo made me think better of it.

I must apologise, that through my rush to look for help, I didn't even update my profile. I'm based in Blackburn, Lancashire, so my nearest rescue would probably be Millhaven in Keighley, West Yorks.

I'll dig out a soft toy for Oreo this evening to go with his new cage layout (going to fleece and towels, so a bit more comfort too), so hopefully this will help him through the next couple of weeks. He's always been a little nervous of people, but we are bonding slowly. A little stroke here and there, grooming time etc.

I will talk to my daughter this evening and let her read this thread, so as to convince her that rushing out to the pet-shop isn't really the best thing to do.

Thanks again.

sorry had to dash out briefly so couldnt add this

It would do Oreo well to have a few weeks "quarantine" before a new addition anyway incase it was something contageous they both brought back from the pet shop, or a chance to make sure there is nothing else that could potentially transfer to any new piggies, so you will be going into boar dating with a healthy piggie of your own ;)

A fantastic rescue choice of millhaven, I am sure the rescue can advise you the best way to get oreo a new chum.

Oh and on the question of transporting, yes they will be fine for a journey as long as they are hydrated before the trip and given axcess to water and food right away afterwards. The piggy bank transports piggies often and every care is taken to make sure the trips are as stress free as possible, best way to hydrate is a bit of cucumber, romaine lettuce and a little pepper, and not forgetting to give a bit of hay to munch on the journey.

Thnaks Pepperdog for all the advice.

I'll make contact with Millhaven after talking to my daughter this evening and get their advice on how to proceed.

I'm sure after talking to her, my daughter will like the idea of a rescue piggie. :)
