They are beautiful.
I saw a litter being born once and it was awe inspiring.
I had to act as midwife though, one of the live babies was coming behind a dead baby and the dead baby had sort of wrapped itself around the live one, so I had to gently pull as mum pushed.
Luckily that baby had a big head, so wasnt too tricky.
Obviously it was sad to see the dead baby, but youre so joyful because of these perfect little miniatures that your breath is just taken away.
They really are perfect when they come out.
Having seen baby hamsters born (when I was a kid) and seeing how pink and needy they are, to see these perfectly furred critters, with teeth and nails, that were wandering around looking around the cage and nibbling on hay within the hour...well, its a miracle.
I hope you get to see Moomin deliver her babies.
Dont be fooled by size though, Ive known of huge sows to give birth to two and one sow that looked barely pregnant, but she gave birth to four babies, and the lightest of the litter was 108g ish, so dont be fooled that it might just be a couple.
Obviously it could be, but could be hiding well in her body.
Good luck and awwwwwwwwwww @ Wombles womblettes.
