I just got a new pig, so new, in fact, he is yet to be named.

I was giving him a wee check over when I got him home, and just above his left leg, he has a perfectly circular bald spot with a small protrudence in the middle.
It looks a bit like a skin tag, but when I brush my finger over or near it, it doesn't seem to bother him, so I am assuming it's not painful!

Does anyone have any idea what this could be, and whether or not it is dangerous?

Or his teat but he would have 2 of them and I think they are higher up. I don't go around looking at man boobs!

Haha, it's not his penis, unless he's sprouted one on his tummy!

I thought it could be a nipple-y thing, but it seems to be longer and thinner, and quite low down.

As long as it's not causing him any discomfort, and it doesn't appear to be infected or oozing or anything disconcerting like that, I'm content to just keep an eye on him.

how old is he? Could it be his belly button / where the umbilical cord was attached? This usually heals very quickly in new-borns but I've had a couple where it stays for longer... might be worth getting it check out in case it's an umbilical hernia wotsit?

sophiew, I literally just ran to my computer having just had the umbilical cord revelation myself, and there you go stealin' all my glory! :))

He's only around 7 weeks (best estimate the lovely lady in the shop could give me), and since our other pigs were both much older when we got them, I've never seen this before.

On closer inspection, it does appear to be a healed up little lump, and I read somewhere that this is likely to fall off, and the fur to grow over the bald patch, in the near future.

One panic averted!
