well i did say that i would consider getting another sow if i found a perfect one, well me and OH went to rescue centre near me where I'm starting my volunteer work and they dont normally have many guineas but they had hundreds and i fell in love with a little tiny thing (even though i was meant to get an older one) her mum came in pregnant and had 3 little babies 2 boars and a sow and i took the sow :smitten: :smitten: ive called her cookie and will post pics next week as i cant fix my cam so I'm buying a new one at weekend O0

she looks like a hamster lol shes so fast and she jumps and climbs. when i can introduce her to my other two? and when will she be able to stay in their c&c cage? I'm just worried that they may be mean to her because they are twice the size of her and theres two of them :-\

Awwwww! hopefully they wont pick on her. Sometimes they are extra protective of a new little one coming in. They're less likely to fight for dominance with her and she will just slot into the already established pecking order. Good luck O0 Introduce her under supervision for a couple of hours just to see if they bond or not then just take it from there.

My older sows didnt take to my baby (well she was 10 weeks) one of them protected her, the other bullied her. It resulted in them all fighting ::) but i think that was just mine, i think i have the only sows in the world who hate other pigs! x

but my sows are still quite young i think Maisy is roughly 5months and Poppy 4months? i just worried because it took a while for maisy to take to poppy, but atleast they where similar size! ?

I have 5 sows living with a nuetered boar. I started with just the boar, and have added the sows gradually, one at a time, over a period of about a year. The new one just seems to become bottom of the ranks with no fighting. I've never heard a single rumble or tooth chatter. They all get on so well! I think they pick up on your nervousness. If you are calm and expect it to go well, I think its more likely to.

I expected mine to go well lol, the baby tried it on with the other two and they let her know who was boss but she kept pestering until there were 3 actual fights ::) i think it depends on the sows and wether they have established who is boss between them before the baby goes in x

maisy is defo the boss! Poppy is really playful I'm sure she never sleeps lol but Maisy just eats. so I'm hoping Poppy will like having a new friend she can play with and Maisy will just carry on eating  oh theres one last thing, Cookie has only eaten carrot where my two have a varied diet and have 6-7 different veg a day so how do i work around that?

introduce it slowly I think. Too much new food could upset her stomach.

i know that she cant have lots of new veg but i mean that my girls do, and i didnt want to stop them having their varied veg so how do i stop Cookie eating theirs? i was planning on introducing slowly at floor time, but could it make it worse if i let them have floor time together then not let them back in c&c together?

I would feed mostly carrots for a few days, with a few extra bits of fresh food here and there. That way she's getting what she's used to, she's being introduced to new foods slowly, and your girls arent missing out or being fed seperately. I'm sure they won't mind a few days of carrots. Mine arent fussed what they get, as long as they get something.

mine dont like carrots though :-\ i think i will put in carrots with cucumber and at lap time i can give maisy and poppy some different veg and give cookie carrots. thats all i can think of doing

Congratulations! I am sure bonding will go fine, follow similar advice for boars and introduce on neutral territory etc..

Cant wait to see pics :D

yea they will be introduced at floor time but instead of floortime in the spare room its going to be in the bathroom lol O0

ty i love the name too, i was up all night thinking about it. i love cookie from monkey world :)

Its a great name :smitten: when i had Sephy in with Ralf and she was only a baby i gave her stuff like, carrot, cucumber, parsnip, caulliflower and gradually intoduced anything green :) x

New piggie. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
