Hello,

Just brough home a new addision to our Piggie family. Tillie, she's approx 6 weeks old and we rescued her from the SSPCA. We've had her home for 2 days now, she in a seperate enclosure to our other two girls but close enough to hear and smell each other.

We feed our girls twice daily and little Tillie doesn't seem to be eating any of her veggies. I'm wondering if this is normal due to the stress of a new environment and if there is anything you guys can think we can do to encourage her to eat and make the process a little less scary for her. She hears her sisters weaking and munching on their veggies.

Thanks x

Hello and welcome to the forum. She’s beautiful. As she is only 6 weeks old she needs to be bonded straight away as she needs the social feedback from your other two girls. Have a look at the bonding guides at the top. Click on the three white lines above. Good luck. 😃

Piggies under four months of age must never be kept separated from others and need to be bonded with others on the day you bring them home. Under four months of age, their social needs are so great and constant companionship is essential.

She will start to eat once she feels settled and has companionship. Piggies under four months are in their 'school times' so she also needs your older piggies to learn what is safe to eat. Hay is the most important part of the diet, so not eating veg at this point isnt a huge concern as long as she is eating hay (the routine weight checks will tell you whether she is eating enough hay).
