Hi

I'm new and picked up our 2 girls yesterday, they have settled well and have been exploring their cage during the night but when I went to see them this morning there were some pink poo in their cage, should I be worried. I did feed them red pepper last night but they only ate a little bit of it but ate the other veggies I put out for them.

Well that's encouraging then. I suggest monitoring for the day and the food they eat. As long as they are firm, lacking in slimmy mess around and of good proportion, they are probably fine. You don't know what they've been fed previousLy. How old are they?

They are 7 weeks old and was told they had eaten greens and veggies and muesli type food.

I've never seen pink poo after mine have eaten red pepper - but I have seen pink poo after they have eaten beetroot. Is it possible their previous owner had given them some beetroot before you collected them ?

Hi and welcome!

I would not worry very much; the coloration is likely due what they have been eating and perhaps the stress of the move to a new home, especially if there is no other indication of any problem. Give your new piggies time to settle and all should be fine. Raw beetroot can cause pink poo and pees.

Hello and :wel:

I hope you have managed to sort out your pink poo mystery. I agree with the others sounds like they may have been fed beetroot to cause that colour poo!

This should disappear though and you can just enjoy your lovely new girls.

Have you named them as yet? Cannot wait to see 'pigtures' as well.

They are actually my children's piggies and they have named them twix and tornado! They are both still very shy but we are looking forward to getting to know them when they feel more at home.
