new piggies feet......

hey guys,

i went and got 2 guinea pigs yesterday (so they didnt get sent to rescue center) and there toes look like theyve curled around abit and are abit scabby and red! the nails were a bit long so ive cut them down. any ideas on how to help with the scabs and reddness?

aparently they had been feeding them on rabbit food aith a little guineapig food mixed in!! grrrrgrrrrgrrrr

It could be something called bumble foot, or just simply from the lack of vitamins if the piggies where not getting enough vit C. A picture would help i agree. Poor babies.

there is like a piece of flat dry rown skin hanging off her 2 front feet and the same on 1 foot of daisys......

this is how there feet were when we got them (this is one of the good ones) they had the dry bits (by the feet) all over and realy long nails, some of the toes have twisted round a bit (will be taking them to the vet tomorrow)......

ahhhhhhhhhhh yes thats what it looks like, i was getting so worried for them the poor things, i trimmed there nails, gave them a bath and brush, gave them GUINEA PIG food, they seem hapier already :):):)

hope i can trim that down now without hurting them ?/

thank you so much, one of the guinea pigs toes sem to have twisted around too? maybe cause the nails were long?

The black and white one looks like foot spurs (see link above) fairly harmless. Kizzy has them and I just trim them off. The ginger one looks different to me but it might just be the quality/angle of the photo. Yeah the toes are just a bit wonky cuz of the nails being long.
 
Hi they look like foot spurs. You can trim them like you do with their nails, if you're worried about doing it get the vet to show you.
If their feet are sore you could try perfect paws ointment from gorgeous guineas.
