Hi!
I am worried about my piggies that I got today. They don't move AT ALL. They just sit in one spot. They don't eat or drink. Is that normal? The piggies are with me for about 5 ours. All they do is just sit in one spot. Are they too scared to move? :(

Completely normal.
They will take a few days to settle into their new homes and feel confident enough to explore especially when people are around.

They will be scared for a while

Just make sure they have plenty of food and fresh water and plenty of hidey places

When we first brought ours home we didn't have a proper house in the cage for them, so they both dived into one of those cardboard tunnel / tubes :))

When we came home with their new wooden hidey, they were in exactly the same position, except all the food we'd left out was gone and there was poo and kicked up sawdust everywhere @) :))

Hi, I'm new to guinea pigs too but if it helps mine just hid when I first got them but by the morning it was obvious they had been out and had an explore and some food. I'm sure they're just a bit nervous and if you give them some quiet time to settle in they'll soon be fine x

I remember when I got my Fang he wouldnt come out of his igloo so I would wait around the corner out of sight untill he came out then I would quietly tiptoe round and watch him grab a piece of food and dive back into his house.

He's still like it now rolleyes, doesnt matter how uch I handle him he's still a scaredy cat

No worries. It's the first day. Everything is new to them. Take it slow. After a few days start holding veggies to them. They will be terrified and probably run away but eventually after keeping with it they will sneak over and steal a bit then flee. Keep doing this and eventually they will realise they don't have to flee so quickly and even dare to stay for a second piece.

Try and figure out who is the braver of the two piggys and work on him. Ludwig trusted me quite well after a week but it took Gilbert months. Eventually he realised that nothing had happened to Ludwig and Luddy was getting all of the treats. He's now a VERY chilled back and lazy piggle.

4 out of my 6 did that.
It took a good 4 or 5 days for them to brave moving around in their hutch whilst i was out in the garden.
The other 2 didnt care and were squeaking away at me from day1. (They weren't babies at the time though) .:))

Hi! It is very normal. Guinea pigs are prey animals. Please provide a hidey (cardboard box will suffice) from which they can explore once they have got their bearings. Make sure that they have hay, food and water close by in the first days.
