We lost our old girl Pippa last Tuesday morning. She was pts after discovering a large mammary tumour. Since we lost her friend a month before I had been trying to find new friends for Pippa but we are not blessed with rescues around here, and I was having no luck at all without facing a long drive, so I asked a friend who keeps a lot of pigs if she knew of anyone reasonably local to me who could help Pippa. I was put in touch with a lovely lady about 30 miles away, and I'd already arranged to go on Tuesday p.m. to see her & the pigs.
There I was, having lost my lovely old girl, going to get new pigs who she'd never meet. It's so strange how things work out isn't it?
At least the Piggy Palace wasn't empty for too long. My OH gave the whole place a good scrub out while I was out, ready for the new occupants.
Please meet Toyah Twinkletoes, and Debbie Hairy (named for their hairstyles ). They are still a little skittish but we have already started to get excited squeakings at teatime, they are settling in really well and eating like piggies should.

What little stunning cuties!

They won't take anything away from Pippa as they are going to take you on a very different journey. But I am sure that Pippa is currently busy learning to operate her little new guardian angel wings so she can help you look after your new little girls... 👼

Toyah & Debbie are beginning to learn their way around. They have got the idea of hopping into the carry box so I can clean out the Piggy Palace. One of them is a shouter and this morning at breakfast time she woke up my OH who was sound asleep upstairs :D
Having had such elderly pigs for so long I had forgotten just how fast a young pig can be - Debbie is only 5 months old and she is a sprinter. She's the more skittish of the two. I have three tunnels around the edge and she enjoys doing laps round those as she can hide at the same time as having zoomies. Toyah is 2 years old so a little more sedate.
Although they still dive for the tunnels when I approach, they are not hiding for so long. If I've put food in, they come out almost straight away, whereas last week they hid for ages and only came out to eat if no-one was about. That's an improvement. It won't be too long before they are running towards me rather than away, when it's time for a little something to eat.
They are piggy numbers 14 & 15 so they have 13 guardian angels to watch over them :luv:
