Hey guys, so some of you will know that we recently lost our guinea pig beano. We sadly had to have him put down on monday. May he rest in peace x

His brother Bumble is doing fine physically, but i feel he may be struggling emotionally. He seems a bit more refined since the loss of his brother. I have him in a room with my two female piggies but i feel he lacks a cage mate. I have been trying to spend as much time with him as possible, but his not and never has been a cuddling pig - his an adventurer at heart

When is the right time for him to have a new piggy?

I myslef dont feel ready for a new piggy yet, but i want the best for Bumble and if its a new friend he needs thats what he will get.

Any help and advise would be great.

Thank you

I am very sorry for your loss. Guinea pigs do not grieve for as long as we humans do, so they usually need companionship before we are ready. Our species specific needs are never as far apart as at this time.

Our guide talks you through all the aspects and also provides links to recommended rescues, which are the best place to let your piggy choose their new friend. You will hopefully find it helpful: Looking After A Bereaved Guinea Pig
