Hi, I wondered if somebody could help. I just rescued two females, both sisters I think, they look like they are Peruvians. Since they came home, I have been checking them over, and found that the tips of their ears look like they have been nibbled. I dont think that is the case, but I think it looks like mites or fungal infection. Has anybody seen this before? If so what treatment should be given?

Here are some pictures of them.

I would also like to know, their ears are a little bit grubby as well, will they need ear treatment for that, or can I clean them with saline solution?

Also, I have two males that I want these girls to go in with. I am going to get them neutered. I got the girls to go with them, because I was told that once they fight, even getting them neutered, wont make any difference. If I do get them neutered, will I be able to put them all together, or just add a girl each with them?

Thank you for your help.

Your boys will still fight if they are together so it is best to match them up into pairs of a boy and a girl.

I would not put saline solution in their ears, the best thing to do is take them both to the vets for a good check over then you can get mite treatment/ fungal treatment etc if necessary. If your vet is guinea savvy enough to neuter they should be able to sort these two girls out for you.

It is very difficult to give advice from photos I think it might be a good idea to get them seen by a vet.

Welcome to the forum, they are gorgeous. Look like Peru X to me. :) I agree with Vikki I would whizz them up the vets tomorrow. I have had a piug with fungal on their ears and it went white but I wouldn't diagnois from pics, a competent vet will be able to tell. :)

Good luck with them and if you neuter the boys as Vikki said its one per herd so maybe one each is a nice idea. :)

They are very cute piggies ...... sorry can't help with your questions I am quite new to piggies but I'm sure your vet will be able to help you. :)

What is the problem about putting saline solution in the ear?

They look lovely would definately be worth a trip to the vets and those nails look like they need some attention once they get a little more settled (or better still get the vet to do it the first time so they don't get grumpy with you :)) )
