As far as I know he can pass urine. Our vet isn’t open until Friday, anything in the mean time we can do?ouch that looks very sore, swollen and red. I would get to a vet asap. Is he still able to pass urine? If he isn't it does warrant an emergency vet
I’m not suggesting they do anything just that they have a lot of care tips on that channel and may help for future care as they are inexperienced. Please don’t try to do anything to it yourself from watching videos. It could cause more harm and pain. He needs to see a vet.
Once again I am not stating they abstain from a vet visit just that the channel is very informative for guinea pig care and well being and would be brilliant for someone who is new to piggies, I have owned guinea pigs for over 10 years and I enjoy their videos and they are very educational.Ouch that does look very sore and definitely a case for the emergency vet! Are you in the UK? If so your vet will have an emergency out of hours vet to cover and this info will he on answerphone if you phone the surgery. Or google search for an emergency vet in your area. Please dont waste time with home treatments and online videos, this needs vet treatment immediately- imagine how you'd feel if that was you and someone said hang about until friday or maybe they could fix it themselves by watching stuff online...!
Hope he is ok x

We are based in Canada. I will phone around and see what I can find. This is our first pig and no prior health problems, I do not have any meds on handI take it from the username you are based in Canada? I don't know what the situation is with vets there and offering emergency care, here in the UK our vets have to be signed up to a 24 hour service so even if it's middle of the night we can go to their registered provider for emergency care (and pay a premium for it of course). It might be worth seeing if any other vets are open especially if you don't have any pain relief to hand. Metacam/loxicom/meloxicom pain relief is often prescribed for piggies, if you have some left over from any previous treatment and it hasn't been open for more than 6 months I would give some to him and record what you have given and when ready for when you can get to a vet. Monitor him closely, weigh daily to see if its having any impact on weight and if he starts losing weight step in with syringe feeding. I would have him out for laptime for a considerable time as well to make sure he is able to pass urine without too much discomfort.
Here is a guide on bridging care before a vet appointment but realistically you need to get in to the vet as soon as they open Emergency, Crisis and Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

I would still look online and try find an out of hours vet, you said this started yesterday, was it this swollen then? Or has it got worse? We are in Canada not uk

All 3 of these are within distance to me! Thank you, I will call and see what I can findIt's always a worrying time and they do pick their moments, seemingly knowing when the vets won't be open for a day or so. Cavy savvy vets can be difficult to come back anywhere in the world and they are less common in Canada than the US. Guinea Lynx have compiled a bit of a list of good vets in Canada, it might give you a starting point if any of them are within a travelling distance of you (again this is where living in a small country has its benefits and I think it's hard sometimes for us to appreciate the vastness of Canada) Veterinarians: Canada - Guinea Lynx Records
Coming back to update. All is well, the vet Lunrjcated and pulled the skin over, checked for any concerns and have Wilbur a clean bill of health! Said it’s possible it may happen again and showed us how to correct it.
