Some of you may have read my previous thread where I whittled to you Lloyd about my boars sneezing. He went to a vet let October as I thought he had a URI and she said he was clear and no fluid on his lungs. He was given baytril however but I stopped before the week was up because he got diarreah and lost his appetite. He still sneezes but it's believed to be an allergy to hay and he does seem much better then he was.

However, I have noticed he makes a noise when he eats (and sometimes when he cleans). I told the vet that his breath sounded heavy to me and she said that yes it did sound a bit heavy but that there was no reason to worry and no signs of anything serious. When he sint eating,he seems normal no really loud breath though if it is silent and you listen closely you can hear it and he is still popcorning etc. I feel no need to take him to the vet at the moment as he has been fine since his previous trip and doesn't seem to be in any pain- if anything it's me who is just being stupid. As I write this,he is laying down finishing off his cucumber slice!

So I suppose I'm asking for someone to hopefully put my mind at ease as I heard their airways can become blocked or something when they eat that means they make a noise? Or at least someone else who has a noisy eater. Thank you all in advance for your help.

I also just want to add that he doesn't have crusty eyes, pain when going to the loos, faeces are all a torpedo shape and brown colour, he's drinking and eating,he does have fuzzy fur but that's normal and it bounces back if you stroke it the wrong way, eyes aren't sunken, ears clean and no discharge. Now he's asleep on his bowl and breathing is silent so not really an emergency more my curiosity.

Many of you already know Mo- that's probably because I spam the forum. Sorry guys! :lol!:

It does sound like allergies and that would make him snuffly when he eats. If he develops any of the other symptoms though like crusty eyes and laboured breathing get him back to the vet. There are other antibiotics that can be tried instead of Baytril.

Breathing is harder when a piggy is eating, so you hear any very slight impairment in the airways when he is doing that, but not during his normal activities.
