Non-uniform Poops And Sneezing

So, there seems to be a lot of discussion about poop on this forum so I thought I'd add to it ;)
All the descriptions I've read of "normal poop" describe it as uniform. My piggies poop is not uniform, its dark and somewhat moist on the one side, and dry and pale on the other. Occasionally their a bit more mixed, but usually its roughly half and half (on the long side).
She is a new to me piggie though, so is this just from a change in diet? Though its been the same for a few days now.

When should I start worrying about my piggie sneezing? When does it chance from just hay/bedding dust to possible respiratory infection? (she's on mixed fleece and carefresh bedding)
 
I personally wouldn't be concerned about the poops at all as long as they aren't runny and she is going alright. I'm sure if someone more experienced disagrees they will let you know.

As for the sneezing, you say its only a few days? I would give it a bit of time to settle but keep a close eye on her. Is her nose dry? or is there discharge? If there is discharge I would be more concerned and get her to a vets. If she occasionally sneezes then maybe try changing some of the bedding in case she doesn't get on with the particular hay or the carefresh
 
I've only had her a few days, so I don't know if this has been happening before. The sneezes aren't constant by any stretch, but there seems to be at least one bout a day we notice.

When you say discharge, I assume you mean from her nose? (not that I've seen any at all) As for if her nose is dry, there is no way she'll let me touch it and find out! She's quite terrified of being touched, she belonged to a little girl previously to me, and she's probably been grabbed poorly a lot :/ However, she'll wheek for me, and run laps when I talk to her after only 4 days (guess who does all the feeding)!

I'm trying to replace the carefresh with fleece, but nothing I buy seems to wick! Well, until now, I think this last batch of fleece will work, and if it does its cheap and nearby so, bonus.

Are you washing the fleece three times without fabric conditioner?
 
Bless her, discharge from the nose as well as sneezing would indicate a problem like a URI so yes I did mean from the nose so it is good you have not seen any.
 
Managed to get a touch of her nose: its not wet, but its not dry. There's no discharge, it wasn't clammy or papery dry, and my finger was not damp at all pulling away. Kind of feeling a recently moisturized cheek, but after the moisturizer's been absorbed.
...I may be over-thinking this...
 
I took my Peter to the vet after a few sneezes and a slightly wet nose and the vet was kind enough not to charge me (he had been in a few times recently) there was nothing wrong. It is probably best to over think it with piggies being such vulnerable creatures.

@helen105281 is quite experienced on health so can probably give you a bit better guidance on this. This is the guinea lynx entry on URI's and from what you are saying she doesn't seem to be displaying any of the other symptoms so I would just keep an eye on her for now http://www.guinealynx.info/uri.html
 
Does her breathing seem laboured at all? or her eyes streaming? I woudl monitor for now but should any of the other symptoms of a URI appear then you would need to get her to a vet.

The poos sound normal to me considering she has recently had a change in diet.
 
Her breath doesn't seem labored, and her eyes aren't streaming.
I've got a couple questions about two of the symptoms on Guinea Lynx, as I don't have a baseline yet. If she has a URI she's had it since I got her (6 days now).

Rough or puffed-up coat : there have been a few times where a small bunch of fur has stood out from her body--if anything, I figured this is barbering. I've only seen it once when she was having floor time.

Lethargy, hunched posture : any photos of what "hunched posture" is? She definitely hides a lot, but she also moseys around a lot and I catch her doing running laps at least once a day (but only for a couple mins at most, as compared to some people's descriptors of half an hour!)

It doesn't sound like she is hunched up if she is running about like that. The puffed up coat would be looking like all her hair is on end.

I don't think you need to worry for now, but keep an eye on the sneezing.
