This is regarding my guinea pig snowy, 6.5 year old male. He initially had trouble eating with drooling and tearing while chewing. This all started around 20 days back.
The vet got her xrays and cbc done. She said the teeth dint look too bad as would be expected. His upper incisor was of a diferent brown colour with another incisor growing in front of it which was was pointy and tpuching his lower lip, so she trimmed that. His cbc showed hight counts, so was started him on antibiotics. Xray abdo showed minor bloat, mostly secondary to his eating less.

He dint improve at all after that, so she suggested molar evaluatuon under anesthesia which was done 5 days back. She said the molars looked okay, one or two spurs which she cut. He is still not eating at all. Nothing.
All this while i have been syringe feeding him. He had lost a lot of weight, but now it is stable.
All this has been going on while i just lost his sister piigie pebbles a day ago. And now i am feeling helpless with this guy too.

There are no gp dentists around here. Getting a decent exotic vet who is willing to do these procedures is itself a big deal.
Now what should i do? I dont want to lose my piggie due to dental issues, which are solvable. I am enclosing his xray too. Would be grateful for any suggestions.

I forgot to add, he comes towards his food with interest, but isnt able to pick up his food. So this is an incisor issue? Or could it be that the molar trimming wasnt done correctly?

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Experts will be here to answer your questions soon, @Wiebke

I didn't see any list of medicine he was on, which will be helpful when others get her to assist you.

Presenlty on these medications:
Enrofloxacin 7mg twice a day
Syp meloxicam 0.2ml once a day

Enroflxacin is an antibiotic licensed for guinea pigs that is usually better known under the brand name baytril.
Meloxicam is another brand name for metacam, if that helps you.
they are very standard medications.

Not eating after dental treatment is not at all rare. GA, a very sore mouth and in some cases lack of experience (guinea pig dentals don't feature large on any vet's curriculum, not even an exotics vet) can contribute. Baytril can additional act as appetite dampener/killer.
