Can a C & C cage be put on the floor? I read that cages are supposed to be off the floor? How many Vet trips are "normal" or average in the lifetime of a Piggy?

My c and c cage is on the floor with no problems at all.
You cannot say how many vet trips are normal as all piggies are different. My Sophie has been to the vets twice and Amelia Jane has been about ten times.

I can confirm what piggyfan says about vet trips. Rosie has made it to 6 with only one vet trip (other than nail clippings- I do them myself now) which was for her poorly eye a few weeks ago, Ruby and Esme both had to go the vets last saturday, and I've only had them about 6 weeks. So all piggies are very different x

My Geepers go through fresh fruit/veg mix, hay and water for brunch.. then dinner they get veg/fruit mix again but with half a bowl of cereal (50/50 mix of nuggets and muesli) more hay. Once in a while they get herbs or bark bites which I use as insentives. Then before I go to bed I check their hay again. This regular feeding keeps their metabollism at full steam
Also excercise encourages the digestive system to manually process the food at a reliable smoother rate. If your Geeper is properly conking out at night she will definitely slow down naturally. My ladies are up during the night and day in equal parts I think, they certainly sleep plenty when I'm walking past.. so it isnt much surprise to me that I find the same amounts of poop in the cage overnight as I do when I come back from work.
It is also entirely possible that lack of GP style companionship may be reducing her feeding rate. My GP's talk almost constantly and that's something that is hardwired into their heads. Lack of conversation can lead to the increased need to survey the area on her own.. she may look very interested, but she is probably devoting alot of her thoughts to assessing and less to relaxing munchy times.
Of course these are just guesses.. you can probably say that she eats a good amount during the day so maybe she doesnt need so much over night. In which case no problems! It may help to watch her weight every other day?
