My max who is 6 months old now and came fro ma Gardan centre i get him when he was 12 weeks old

he hates beaning stoked he cringes when i do it i mean from when i got him i allways bring him inside and stoke him he doesn't try to bit me or anything when i do stoke him

i think it may because he didn't get handle that much when he was a baby

he dose like to to picked Io and cuddle up to me when i bring him inside

it just takes time Hannah. You said he does like to be picked up and cuddled though. He'll mellow out in time :)

Jessie is the same, she was scared and hated at first. She still isn't to sure but shes definalty coming along more :) I think guinea pigs that come from shops and garden centres take more time to gain trust as there aren't handled as much as breeders would handle theres so are not sure. :)

It could be where you're stroking him. I have an aby that hates to be stroked anywhere but his nose and even that he won't tolerate for long but he loves cuddles and as long as you don't stroke him he will sprawl out and go to sleep.

When I'm sat in the sun mine streches out and loves been stroked when mum picks some stuff off the garden for them to beet they sqeak.

I hope he'll sit still for you soon. ^_^

Maybe it's where you stroke him?

i jsut nerally stoke him on his back like you do

if i try to stoke under his chin he tries to bit me

buy lilly isit like this and i got her from the same place she just likes to have a feet on the something

My boar hates being stroked or picked up too. He's a biter as well which makes it so much more difficult! Also if I stroke him in his cage near his back his legs flip up and he rolls over as if he's saying 'just eat me now, get it over with!'.

When I hold him he seems to be more comfortable with my hand firmly around his bottom and me only touching him where he can see my hand ie. his head and behind the ear. He was also from a pet shop I've been told it can take months before they are happy to be touched. I'm just trying to persevere, even if my fingers are telling me Nooo!

I have a rabbit just like this called Peter, we adopted his from the RSPCA. He hates being stroked and used to bite me! after 2 years together we seem to have come to a deal, I'm allowed to put my hands inside his cage to feed and clean etc... and i wont touch him, and he wont bite me or be threatening in anyway.

This is just how Peter is, and i know he will never change. I don't blame him at all as he was at the RSPCA because the previous owners kids didn't like him and used to drop him and hit him when he bit them, which made him bite even more! So i love him for the way he is, and it doesn't matter that he's not a cuddly bunny, he shows his love in different ways and i appreciate every second we spend together.

So i guess what I'm trying to say is, it doesn't matter if an animal doesn't like being stroked or touched, they still love you in their own special way!

I have a sow Bumble who does not like being held much. She loves a stroke but when she had enough she walks away. Some piggies are funny but they do still love us ;)

tiny and titch arent people friendly yet, and hate being stroked, fudge is getting better.

All piggies are just so different! My piggy, Mama, will chatter her teeth at me when I come near the cage, but she never bites. I think she's just letting my other piggies know that someone has entered their kingdom!

Cornelia is a wheek-er. She is SO INCREDIBLY LOUD! I've never heard a pig squeal as loud as this little, but mighty pig, can. The good thing is, she normally squeaks for a reason, like she wants food, water, or treats, so at least she has reasoning behind it ;)

Caesar is very quite and the fastest of all three. I would say that Caesar doesn't like to be picked up, but once held, is very calm and will sit in your lap patiently. Mama and Caesar are both easy to hold, though I got Cornelia and Caesar at a pet store and Mama from a previous owner. It just depends on their personality. Mine like to nibble my fingers through their cage, but I wouldn't say they're biting, just investigating.

Piggies are all very different and I'm sure that if you piggy doesn't like being stroked it doesn't mean that he doesn't like you, they just all prefer different things.

most piggiies in general hate anything near their bums, so stroking his back's probably not a good idea
mine love their chins being stroked and they'll even tilt their heads upwards sometimes
but only if you put your finger infront of them to sniff first
they like their ears being sratched too
i think the best way to introduce stroking is to do it like when they lick and groom eachother
like realy soft & fast little strokes
