Hi, I'm a bit worried about Squeak today, he's a bit subdued , he hasn't come out of his hidey much except to eat and he's hardly done any poos. He's done a few of the ones he eats but theres hardly any in the cage. He ate his veg this morning and he's had a few nuggets and a bit of hay. He doesn't feel bloated to me. I've weighed him and he's put on weight since weds when they were last weighed (which I do twice weekly). I don't want to go to the vets and have them put him on antibiotics which will make him lose his appetite if there's actually nothing wrong as I lost my previous boy while on baytril despite my best efforts with syringe feeding. A couple of poos he did overnight were a bit small. He's never been a big drinker.

How much has he ate? Is he eating any hay at all?

It sounds like he may be a bit bloated, not pooing is not good for piggies as there guts need to be constantly moving. I would get him checked by a vet, they will most likely check there is no blockage and see if he feels gassy, then will normally prescribed something like Emeprid (Metachlopromide) or Zantac or maybe both to get his guts moving again.

Does he feel gassy? Does his tummy sound hollow when gently tapped at the sides?

He's actually much better since I posted. Quite a lot of normal looking poos. He ate his evening veggies with gusto and has been much more lively although I am on high alert just in case. He hasn't felt bloated at all. He has been eating hay and nuggets today it was just the lack of poo but that seems much better now. Thanks for reply.

Hi all, just a quick update on Squeak this morning. He's done plenty of normal poos overnight and is doing zoomies round the cage this morning and has had his morning veggies, so I think yesterday must have been just a blip. Of course I will be keeping a very close eye on him today.
