I'm was watching some videos on guinea pig treats (I wasn't making them) and someone (not going to mention they channel) that had guinea pigs for a pretty long time. I did some research about oats along time ago before watching that video. On google it said that oats upset tummies. But that youtuber said that it was fine for then to have oats. so i don't really know who is telling the truth.

I give mine raw oats only if there is a need to build up weight after illness or surgery.
Mixed with some grated apple, carrot or sweet potato they help with recovery.
I don’t feed mine oats any other time.

To be honest a guinea pig regards a favourite food as a treat.
Mine love cucumber which they get most days but it’s always treated as a special treat.
Fresh herbs also make nice treats for them.

If your piggie is healthy then I don’t think there is a reason to give porridge oats. They are great for building up a poorly or for dental piggies, those that have lost a lot of weigh or finds eating difficult x

:agr:
There are times when they can be used, but not as a routine thing for an otherwise healthy piggy

Mine like a sprinkle of oats in their hay as an occasional winter treat, a small spoonful sprinkled in a big hay pile can cause some really cute and intense foraging behaviour while they work hard for an hour to get every last oat! But usually oats are for older piggies or poorly piggies who need to regain lost weight. A few oats is fine though, if you consider them an occasional limited high calorie treat like fruit or carrots.

That's great idea and fun. Lol.

I agree with what everyone else is saying.
I used to give oats instead of daily pellets to my piggy with interstitial cystitis. I’d then only give some pellets maybe once a week.
I also usually provide oats for the senior pigs (6 y/o) as they weigh a lot less than they did in their prime. One of them also was on deaths door earlier this year and so lost a lot of weight due to that too. The oats helped him out in maintaining and gaining weight so we’ve kept giving them to the oldies.
Oats definitely don’t upset tummies, but you don’t really need to give them to your piggies unless there’s a health reason as to why they’d be better off having them.
