Hello

I was just wondering if it is ok to give my piggies oats, as in porridge oats?

What I was thinking of doing was mixing a little in with their pellets, dry oats though not made into porridge, would this be ok or is it a no-no?

Thanks :)

Piggies can eat oats, but be aware that they are fattening and should only be given to help bulk up a piggy after an illness or when they are overwintering outside and could do with extra calories.

I would not recommend starchy food as part of a regular, good diet; but you can give a little as an occasional treat.

I feed them a few times a week but only in Winter as my piggys are outside in hutches and a shed. I tend to think of them as warm and nutrtious for humans in winter so why not for the piggys in winter.

What everyone else said, plus, they can be made up into porridge using goats milk to help bubs along if they need some help. xx

Mine have lost weight over winter so I'm giving them porridge oats with their dry food every 2-3 days :)

I very occasionally on bitterly cold mornings make them porridge with water, the girls are not fussed but the boys like it.
