Hi everybody, can't remember if i posted on here about my piggie Rose? ?/

Well shes been having bladder problems since november, i took her to see vedra before xmas and she kept her in after an xray revealed she didn't have any stones just lots of grit. she had a kidney flush and that seemed to clear it all up for a few weeks, only for her to go down hill again, which is when she went to my rodentologist for a week for another flush, which again cleared the problem up. but shes started squeaking while weeing again yesterday :( she is on bottled spring water and shes on a low calcium diet, she has peppers, cucumber, celery, tomatoes, lettuce, melon etc, she only has carrot, cabbage etc as a treat, she is on p@h pellets and loads of fresh hay, i have been syringing her extra spring water which i hope is helping a little, as ive been in all day today and i've only heard her squeak once

I don't know what else i can do for the poor little mite :(:( i haven't had her long and have grown really attached to her :( :(

Wish us luck for monday :(

Claire, sorry to hear Connie is still not right :( hope she improves soon x

I forgot to add that i've had a feel around her back end and she doesn't seem to be uncomfortable, if she had a stone she would be squirming to get away from me, i'm hoping when she has an xray it shows up clear :{

sorry you are still having problems with Rose. You certainly are a great piggy mum and are doing a wonderful job trying to get her better.
Hope she soon gets through this. Let us know how she gets on

I'm sorry Rose is still having such problems. It's great that you are able to see rodentologists and Vedra, many vets would be completely stumped beyond this point when it comes to bladder trouble. I'm moving back to Wyton in a few weeks and can't wait - because I rely on Vedra so much!

Good luck with Rose, do let us know how she gets on next week.

Well i have good and bad news from my visit with Rose to see Vedra today.

The good news is there is no stone/crystals in her bladder, which I'm so relieved about! Her wee is also back to normal now aswell.

The bad news is she is covered in parasites! Its from the hay ive been getting from the local farm shop! Vedra gave me some shampoo to bathe her in twice a week for three weeks, ive also got to do my other 4 piggies because they've been having the same hay! grrrrgrrrrgrrrr

I've been advised to buy either readigrass or graze on for them, any one know where id be able to get that from?

Hi

I think Grazeon can be high in calcium - mine have had it before but I seem to remember someone saying it was higher in calcium than Readigrass or Just Grass. You can get small bags of pet-friendly Readigrass from pets shops, about £3 a bag, or a big bale for under £10 from a horse supplies / feed place - or if you Google them, you should be able to find a local stockist

I will steer clear of Grazeon then , cheers sophie X

Will pop into the horse feed shop tomorrow and have a look
