Aw poor Serena, just nursed 2 of ours through it, hope the vet sorts her out. Don't forget to get some probiotics so that the baytril doesn't put her off her food!
hoping she gets better this time and they can find the cause of it. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: sending you hugs and cuddles from me and the girls in oz. keep us posted. :-* :-* :-* :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: good luck serena. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: O0
Ok basically long story short is Serena has had respiratory problems since about June last year.
Initially she was treated with Baytril which cleared up the initial infection. However today is her fourth trip since June.
Each time she has been treated with Baytril injections as oral Baytril just didn't work.
Her last trip before today was before Christmas. However about mid January i started to hear a rattle when she was breathing.
Now i monitored her and tried various alternative treatments but took her back to the vet today as nothing had worked.
Please note if she had detrioated at any stage i would have taken her to the vet.
Anyway after discussions with my vet today we have reached the conclusion that had it been an infection she wouldn't still be here.
Backed up by the fact that there is no mucus or sneezing.
He did a thorough examination (much more so than the vets previously) and said that her chest is not the problem but her throat is.
He said that it could be an obstruction/inhaled piece of food.
So she had another Baytril injection and is back tomorrow to see if there is any improvement.
If there isn't then we need to re think as to what the problem may be.
He mentioned a wanting to get a good look at her throat but isnt keen to have her under a GA at this stage.
So now i'm worried about what the outcome will be :'( :-\
jelly belly gizmo was the same last year he was on baytril and it cleared it up an it happened again not as bad so took him to the vet and the vet listened to his chest and she said there was no "noise" so she said he could be allergic to somethin narrowed it doen to my deodrant since i stopped using a spray deodrant and not dusting with a spray touch wood he's been fine?
I dont know if it helps but is he in a room were there is a lot of praying of aerosals?
Hope he gets better soon
I'm so sorry to hear this, have you thought maybe of trying hay one end of cage and towels or vetbed the other to maybe halve the dust that may come from the hay.... i'm just saying this as our Sully 0 had allergies which i finally realised not long before he left us and he used to sneeze on the odd occassion or be wheezy for no reason and then be fine.
It's frustrating for you both, i do hope you find a solution :smitten:
Heaps of healing wheeks for you and Serena :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Hope she gets on ok. Its not nice when animals are unwell - you can't tell them that everything is going to be alright and they can't tell you what's wrong.
I really am worried. I'm debating about not having it done.
She shows no ill effects or change in behaviour.
It literally is just a rattle when she breathes.
Hmmmmp.
