Hi all,

I have just returned home with two baby female guinea pigs, Lilly and Millie.

They have already stolen my heart, so cute, SO MUCH POOP.

They are really scared at the moment which i expected, should i not handle them for a couple of weeks?

They found where the hay/pellets/water is and they have been eating some hay and pellets but have not had any water for the last couple of hours since i put them in the cage, I'm a little worried about that.

I’m so happy for you! They tend to steal your heart and poop at the same
time! Lol

You should probably allow your guinea pigs to warm up to you, stand next to the cage and talk to them, and eventually, give them treats when the walk towards you. I would also recommend hand feeding them veggies, it will make them want to come near you more often if they think you have veggies. The water thing can be worrying, but it all depends if they’ve been trained or know how to use a water bottle and/or a water bowl.

I wish you the best of luck! Congrats on becoming a mom!

I’m kind of at your stage! We can learn together. Yes…. The poop. I don’t think anyone prepares you for the poop!

Welcome to the forum.
Please don’t worry about water, if they are eating veggies then they will get water from those.

Read the guides @YvonneBlue has linked for you. They are very helpful and will ease your natural worries.

Congratulations on becoming a piggy slave.

Hi and welcome

Please peg a towel or sheet over the cage to give your piggies a feeling of safety and let them get on with settling in. It usually takes several weeks until they feel fully at home.
Don't worry about drinking; the individual need varies widely anyway from not drinking at all to drinking a bottle per day - and all of it is perfectly acceptable if is their regular normal. Your piggies won't dehydrate. It is very common that new piggies won't drink initially.
