Just noticed jasper mooching around and he picked something up and started to eat. I jumped up to see what he had found so interesting, even though they had just had brekkie! He had picked up an orchid flower that must have just fallen off the plant and he has managed to eat a little. Do i need to panic?

I have had a quick google and it is looking like they aren't poisonous but I have to start work in a moment shortly so hopefully someone will be along with more information soon. If in doubt call your vet. Does he seem ok in himself?

He seems fine. Just had cage clean and he is in the hay tray with Saffy munching away. I will keep an eye on him. They more or less have free range if the living room except when I am at work and this is the first time they have found something before me.

Hi , I,d be inclined to say he will be just fine , but there is a keeper I know who is a pharmacist , and she
also studys plants and the toxicins they contain , I will try and get in touch with her

Though it might be safest to keep a close eye on his poops , if there is a problem , the may change from norm depending on what type of toxin he has eaten , though i beleve sloppy poops is the most common reaction

Also hold him and lightly put your fingers on his tummy , feel for any abnormal muscular twitch es .

I

If he presents either of these to symptoms take him to a vet ASAP

Oh piggies do like to worry us. Mine managed to nibble a houseplant that was too close to their run at one point... Hope he's ok and nothing's come from his experimental breakfast
