OH piggy ban!

My OH is trying to impose a guinea pig ban, meaning that I will not be allowed to get any more guinea pigs :0:0.

I have tried reasoning, begging and all other methods I can think of! Only one more I have told him but he is refusing to budge. He has even said if I get another he will never help me with them again!

Been there, gone through all of that, getting one more... ;)

SOB STORY will do it - but you better wait a bit until you come across that one special piggy that ONLY YOU can save and make happy!

(Hot tip from agony aunt: do bide your time and don't push OH too far too quickly and he'll come round eventually!)
 
I suppose when you live together with someone you need to compromize on a lot of things... What are his reasons for not wanting any more and why do you want just one more?

As a lawyer I would try to negotiate the "contract" not not say "no more guinea pigs" but rather that "the maximum number of guinea pigs should be... ". That way you won't end up with a lone piggy one day.
 
He feels (quite unreasonably :p) that 14 pigs, 4 cats and a rabbit are more than enough!
 
I know the feeling but have managed to get 2 more piggies in since the ban was imposed :))

There is no room for negotiation left, I exhausted all my options to get Sasha. I just want one more tiny little skinny pig x)
 
I currently have 14, which is not a huge amount!

I did think about sneaking one in and I could if it was a hairy pig but hard to sneak a skinny in.

Perhaps OH feels neglected. Could you buy him one as a love gift?!:rosexoxo Say that skinnies in particular are a symbol of romance...?

ERR - yes... :red:red:red

Hubby has caved in (rather ungraciously, but he has!) and I am still in the process of working out the particulars, so you will have to wait a little bit longer! Sob story got to him... (Although I admit that it is a bit hard to do with skinnies!)

PS: I always make sure that there is a special appreciative treat for him!

Can you wish a piggy as you birthday or Christmas present?

However, as you have just got one, I would recommend you wait a bit and let sleeping dogs lie!
 
I got Sasha for my birthday on Monday however it is our anniversary coming up!

Glad to hear you have found a special girl to add to your herd!
 
I would print off lots of life size pictures of piggies and start sticking them up all over the house (inside kitchen cupboards, on the skirting board, etc). He'll get so used to the sight of them that you'll be able to sneak a real one in without him noticing. :(|)


p.s am also very excited by Wiebke's news.

14 pigs, 4 cats and a rabbit! OMG I'm with OH. Imagine the poop pile each day! And the sqeaking in the morning for breakfast.

If I were OH I would frisk you for piggies everytime you came home.
 
My OH has given up now.... he sometimes asks how many there are and I give a vague answer (or just pick a random number - 72, 31, 2... :)))

It's different because I run a rescue - but I always tell him how many pigs have gone to new homes, and 'forget' to mention the new ones that have come in, or been born.... :x

Currently working on dog number 3 by singing '3..... is the magic number!' at random intervals....

I overheard my OH telling his family that we were perhaps getting too many at a family bbq last weekend. They're not animal lovers and they think I'm a bit odd.

They asked how many? and he replied " she's got 8 now"

How wrong he is, poor deluded man. Only 5 short.:)):)) With plans for another boy sometime soon. Then I'm at my limit for pets, but will have room for 3 pairs of fosters.

What the eye's can't see the heart can't grieve over.:p
 
Not really able to hide a skinny though as they are indoors.
 
Ok, new plan. You need someone to knit you a jumper with a special piggy pocket so you can carry the new skinny round in secret. If she wheeks then you'll have to join in and just say the pigs are rubbing off on you. I used to know a couple who rescued birds and the husband always had a poorly sparrow or something in his top pocket. Mind you, there house was bonkers- they had an owl that hopped up and down the stairs because it couldn't fly. :)
