Mods, feel free to move this wherever appropriate, as I wasn't quite sure where to post it!

For those that don't know, Rory is the only boar out of Molly's 3 babies that she had May 29th (so they'll be 2 weeks old on Wednesday). I went to feed them veggies tonight and after they finished eating I was observing/talking to them as always. Well, Rory started rumbling/purring and swaying his hips at the girls! I caught him once when all of the girls went into the cozy. He started to approach them again and swaying his hips and carrying on - I waited a few minutes, thinking it was my imagination....and there he went again!

Currently he is in a cage in my room...it was at 10PM here, so you all are in bed and I had to make a judgment call. I hope I've done the right thing, but its very tricky. He's sleeping, currently and has been eating hay...he's cried a little bit but for the most part he's very quiet. He always tended to be a loner anyway, even with Mommy and Sisters.

Today he weighed in at 253g/8.9oz, if that means anything (yes, he's a big boy...has been since he came out of the womb).

Oh gosh he's early isn't he rolleyes
I'd say you've done the right thing love :)
I'm sure once the more savvy people wake up they'll advise you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Bless him he's only trying to be a boar :)

i think you have definantly done the right thing there isnt a real set rule to separation its at 3 weeks old or anytime before if rumbling/flirty behaviour is happening, don't question your choice i would have done the same thing xxxxx

Thanks Glynis and Bonnie for the bit of reassurance, should allow me to sleep tonight!

I'm sure Molly is somewhat relieved that there is one less...the babies seem to be getting on her nerves! :)) I still think that they got a little over-developed in the womb and are a week ahead of schedule (because they were huge at birth and Molly is attempting to wean the girls now!)...however ridiculous that sounds. :p :))

I am going to try and get a few winks of sleep....I have have feeling the little guy is going to start crying in a few hours and not let me sleep. :))

aww i hope its all ok,just keep an eye on Rory to make sure he continues eating properly on his own;),another thing which i use for orphaned puppies when they come here is a clock, place it near the cage,it has a similar sound to the mothers heartbeat and will usually calm them at bedtime xxxxx

He is an early developer, bless him! You did absolutely the right thing.

No wonder mummy is already trying to wean her baby Goliaths! It looks like Molly must have held on giving birth until she was happy with where she was! And she's just about coming into season again after giving birth (15-16 days)...

The poor little fella slept for 3 hours and then would cry for 20 minutes....he woke me up at 3AM, and 6AM, and then now at 9AM. I just talked to him and he went back to sleep. mallethead

He's eating fine (scarfing down pellets as I type this :)) ). Now its Veggie time!

I ended up singing Christmas carols in the middle of the night to one bawling, desolate piggie once...

It's hard on him, as he is soo young, poor chap! But he should get used to it soon, as he isn't alone in the room.

He's never alone. Sounds creepier than I intended. :))

He sure is a funny boy, playing and chatting with me. Him and Shotzie have been having conversations too. :))

The meeting with the family went very well! The little boys were very good with the piggies and they (especially the Mom) fell in love with the girls. They wanted to name one "Bugsy" after the pig on "Bedtime Stories". :))

I'm glad the meeting went well and they loved your pretty girls (I do!).

Make sure that they give the girls time to settle and that the children have only short, supervised time with the pigs at first (feeding time is best!).

Will do! They are very educated on piggies, thus far. They're getting supplies so they can build their own C&C Cage. They were asking where I got my stuff, so I helped them out with that. They're going on vacation for a week in about 2 weeks, so that will be right on schedule as far as the babies being ready to go to their new home.

Rory is just munching away on his pellets and has picked up Shotzie's habit of wheeking when the refrigerator door opens rolleyes - took a whopping 6 hours to pick that one up! :)) Gotta do the weigh-ins in a little while, it'll be interesting to see how his weight changed.
