I went into pets at home today to look at a 2 tier hutch, and decided to look in the adoption center (big mistake). There was a beautiful female GP. She seems to be a swiss and is around 12 weeks old, I asked about her and they got her out and I held her and that was it I fell in love x) I sooooo want her and I have the room for 3 piggys as I only have 2. The problem I have is I looked after my friends guinea pig after she found out she was pregnant and as she didnt know anything about pregnant piggys asked me to look after her, which I did and she had her 3 babies and as they were nearly 2wks old and have done well went back to my friends 2 days ago. The problem is 1 of the babies is a female and looks just like my female but ginger and I told my friend I want her, and I still do. I just dont know what to do!mallethead I have the space for 3 but not 4. Oh what to do PLEASE HELP ME I'm IN SUCH TERMOIL!

I personally wouldn't get a piggie from Pets At Home as I have heard too many terrible things about them. I would be very careful as it could be pregnant or ill.

Like BellasMummy said be very careful if you get her from pets at home, around this area (& others) they have had major problems with ringworm lately. My local pets at home told me in May they had 18 baby guinea pigs in the back, all being treated for ringworm & it had taken them months to get it down to only six guinea pigs then having it. The staff member also told me a few of the staff had caught it too! (I haven't been near since!)

Good luck with which ever you decide :) I know how hard it is resisting piggies :))drool

Hi thanks guy but my local P@H are really good and I have never seen any sick animals in there. Also this piggy they didnt actually sell, someone bought it in to them as they decided they just couldnt cope. But thanks for the advice. I'm just torn on which piggy to go for mallethead

I would be wary of the "sob" story of the guinea pig, I've heard that they sometimes make them up as it looks better than saying "This piggy is in the adoption centre because it never sold as a baby and we would rather not have it distracting from the new cute babies".

Having said that only you know whether you want to take the piggy in (I'm trying to be neutral here as if I ever step foot in a P@H again it will be too soon for me.)

I have to say like you I have been caught 3 times by p@h adoption centre and have been very lucky because none of the three piggies I have had from there have had any problems at all. Difficult decision, babies are easy to intergrate but the p@h one could be a loner hence it is on its own. good luck with your decision.

It is entirely your decision but personally i would go for the one from your friend. My piggies are shop bought (not P&H) but i would never go to a shop again! But nobody can tell you what to do, it has to be your decision. Good luck with whatever you decide :) x

Hi guys, thanks for all your advice. Went to P@H again today, mainly to just show the other half the 2 tier hutchs I like and I showed him the piggy in the adoption center, he didnt like her and said the 'baby' we are gettin from my friend is much nicer and that also this piggy looks like she would need alot of grooming due to her wirey hair, which is fair enough, and in a way he is right, so we are sticking with the baby piggy from my friend, and she is just as gorgeous x)

Hi Thanks Bailey, but I'm actually looking at second hand 1s as I think hutches new are way over priced, plus I'm never happy with how flimsy some can be, both the hutchs Ive currently got have had my hands put to them to make them much stronger and better, thats why I'm going second hand so that I can spend that extra bit of cash getting it up to my standards, but thanks anyway.
