Do your guinea pigs get really excited and start to popcorn while oinking? Are they full of whistles and chirps. Have you noticed you cannot open the fridge without setting the pig alarm off? If so you probably have a couple of cavies around..... so here is my question what do your pigs do to represent pig power to you?

i get squeaked at EVERY time i open the fridge and open a compartment in the fridge. Thats "flash's compartment" where all his veggies are

So i'm told off if i go in it and nothing it returned by getting squealed at until i give him something. The noise is cute though. :{

I have a chirper. 24/7 i get chirped at. Sweet but annoying when your trying to listen to someone or something its annoying

All it takes is a rustle of a bag, and all 4 of my piggies wheek in stereo! :))

your lucky, last night it didn't even get to that! I open the cupboard drawer to get a knife out of it and there was a massive wheek! Its a big difficult when you are trying to get cutlery out of the same drawer with the guinea pig over the wall in the next room rolleyes. The company we had over for the night were a bit freaked when out of no where this little wheek sound appeared! Its like what the hell is that? So i got him out and one of them held him! :))

Every bag - crisps, sweets, pork pies, jelly, literally every bag apparently sounds like a bag of salad. 8 at the moment all go beserk, as they are next door to the kitchen. I love it. Just gave them all half a green bean each to shut them up (that worked for approx 20 seconds) cos its not tea time yet! How about the longest wheeeeeeek? Has anyone ever counted how many seconds a wheek lasts. One of my new fosters Ben can do one long 9 second wheek. Doesn't sound long but try it.. it's long! xx

I keep all his food in an orange plastic bag..He doesn't have to hear the sound of the bag.. Once he sees orange colour he goes crazy! It lasts until he finally gets the hay into his little mouth :)

Arthur used to be really bad with squeaking. I couldn't even sneak something out without him hearing. But he's calmed down a lot now and its only when they are really hungry and I'm being too slow I get a chorus of squeaks from them.

My 7 month old boar Peanut Butter oinks whenever he wants attention - first thing in the morning when he hears me in the kitchen (so that he gets brekkie before I get coffee), at lunch time if I'm late with the food (he has some sort of internal body clock that tells him it's time for the mid-day veg), when he's pooped in his food bowl (it means he has eaten all the things he likes from his mix and left only the stuff he doesn't like), when he has managed to topple his pigloo over his food bowl (so now he can't get at the food bowl), when he has jumped on top of the fleece ramp tunnel (thus closing the opening and so he can't get upstairs), when his cage mate Hazelnut is taken out of the cage by himself for longer than 5 minutes (one has to either put Hazelnut back or take PB out too to shut him up) - the list is endless, he is one vocal pig. Hazelnut, my 1 1/2 year old boar, is not much of an oinker. He used to oink for brekkie in the morning before PB arrived, but now he just lets PB do all the oinking and simply waits in the usual spot knowing brekkie veg is going to come there whenever PB oinks.

This is an old thread! It's been resurrected from 4 years ago ?/

Let's see... things that trigger my 14 pig squeak alarm:

1. Someone opening the front door,
2. A random noise outside,
3. Using the chopping board,
4. Standing in the kitchen,
5. Opening the fridge door,
6. Rustling ANYTHING or moving something,
7. Saying "Piggy, piggy, piggy Foooo-ooood?" when it's veg time (and do an impression of them squeaking when you say food),
8. Standing up after sitting down for a while,
9. Going up to their cages,
10. A rustly or chopping noise on the TV,
11. OH waking up (yes they watch him and squeak as soon as he moves),
12. Sometimes no reason is needed at all.

If you sneeze or cough or if there's a loud noise, they make a BBBR/ URRRP/ oinky noise

Cinnamon, Rasher and Caramel are my only pigs that chirp - usually around 4am.

If you get just the right spot on their backs, sometimes I get a purr or two lol

And wow, you're right, this is an old thread! Didn't even notice! :o
