I was on another forum and someone was visiting on of their local P@H and guess what they had for sale...
Skinny Pigs, 3 of them.
I could not believe my eyes when I read it. Thankfully a member of the staff has given them to a knowledgeable rescue and they said... "take them! take them all! I cant be bothered with them! I have had to many complaints and they arnt worth the stress!". I have offered homes if they rescue does not want to keep them, I would rather be pushed for space than see Skinnys in a bad home.

I have been talking it over with another skinny owner and maybe there should be a petition about any pet shop selling Skinnys or any hairless Guinea Pig, due to the fact they could be housed outside. PLUS a email to HQ P@H.
I know some of you are going to say, 'see I told you so', yes I knew eventually they would show up BUT not this soon. Let hope that they learn from the issues what happened at the above store and not bother. *crosses fingers*

right before xmas, thats terrible. i think a petition would be a good idea. hopefully it would work :(

O dear :( i hoped this wouldnt happen. Arent there only a certain number of skinny breeders in the UK? Could you find out who sold them to them or are there to many? sorry if that sounds stupid. Hope no more show up :(

i think their will be alot more people breeding skinnys soon :-\ eventually they will fall into the wrong hands :(

I know of a number of Skinny breeders but there could be a lot more out there. They can be imported from EU, as I am doing (BTW this is not for the money, i may breed a litter for myself and I want new blood, alot of skinnys come from one main source here in UK).
With the recent publicity I have had over 10 emails wanting skinnys and willing to pay upto £150 per pig. I would never do this due to the fact of I could be suppling a breeder who is then going to supply a pet shop, I do not want the responsibilty on my shoulders.

sadly we are a fad nation.

Nothing will stop this like nothing stopped the importing of exotic pets which are then let go into woods to fend for themselves.

We are a nation of idiots, this is why I must become PM of this country.

:tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr &^(%(&%&$(^& that's what i think of people acting so poorly like this.

Thank goodness you're friends saw these little ones and is able to get them to a forever home :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I've had messages asking for Skinnys too! It was only a matter of time before it happened. Hopefully pets at home won't touch them. I'd write to them and make your feelings known to them Emma about the hairless breeds.

:'( :'( :'( petition sounds good, someone could contact local newspapers in this regard and get a story out, alng lines of skinnys not just a gimmick for xmas those of you that own pig recues could make flyers, and those of you with websites could make a banner about skinnys being not suitable for xmas... oh u get my drift i in hurry cos i got to get kids to school....
This si sad

I wasnt expecting this so quick Emma.
The last thing Skinnys need is to be stuck in petshops, what idiot has sold them to P@H of all places,They cant even get the sexing and care right on hairys :tickedoff:

Hopefully these 3 will end up in a knowledgeable skinny home >:(
