One angry pig :(

One of my guinea pigs has recently become a little bit hostile towards me. He bites me and he has started chattering his teeth at me. The other guinea pig is fine with me.

I did some research and figured I may be getting them out of their cage incorrectly (I was chasing them with my hands) whereas now I've learnt this can be very scary for them and it's best to get them in a tube or something comfortable and alike.

Does anyone have any advice? I mean this particular guinea pig he sneezes a little bit but has done now for months and on odd occasions his wheek sounds a bit like he has a cold but then it goes right back to normal again. Could he be I'll and that's making him act strange. I'm at a loss :/ thankyou in advance.

He could be ill so a health check with a cavy savvy vet would be recommended to be sure. Some piggies are just grumpier than others as well so if he is given a clean bill of health then you might want to consider piggy whispering to assert your place in the hierarchy above him

Any change in a piggy should be checked out by a vet. A vet would rather see a well piggy with an anxious owner than an ill piggy with an owner who has left it too long. If nothing else it will put your mind at rest.

Hi! How old is your piggy? Teenagers can be a bit harder to handle.

In some cases suddenly not wanting to be touched can be the very first symptom of a mange mites outbreak. If you notice increased scratching/itching in the coming days followed by bald skin patches typically in the middle of the back but not necessarily so, then that is the likely cause of the change of behaviour. Please do not treat on spec in a knee jerk reaction with low dosed broad spectrum pet shop products!
