So
We started out with x2 piggies - both brand new from pets at home. 2 years later one went to piggie heaven.

Not wanting the other to be alone, we bought another piggie. We assumed it was a brand new little baby - I suspect it was a few weeks older than the advert said.
Alas, when we introduced the new little piggie to the other. It was clear they weren’t going to be BFFs.
So, we split the C&C cage into x2, allowing plenty of room and the opportunity to see each other. Not as ideal living together I know.

But. After a year and a half of living side by side. I wonder what to do. The new piggie, just spends most of his time biting the cage - so violently he has actually escaped on two occasions
Now, whilst we give the piggie a good live in respect, we let them (individually), free roam, and keep the cage clean etc. It’s clear the new piggie just isn’t happy being alone - We have tried to reintroduce him to the older piggie. But they aren’t friends.

What to do?
1. Do we look to advertise him, and hope someone can take him and he gets along with others?
2. Not sure…..

I’m sorry the bonding wasn’t successful.

Is two piggies your limit?
I only ask because if it isn’t, then taking this piggy in question ( or even both of them) rescue dating to find new compatible friend is the best way to ensure a good bond with a new piggy. This would of course mean the cages would need to be expanded to 180x60cm and you would then have three (or If you took them both, then four) piggies. This of course may be too much though.

If this isn’t an option and he truly isn’t happy being alone, then surrendering him to a rescue centre so he can be rebonded and rehomed would be best (rather than advertising him yourself as you have no idea what kind of home he would go to).
Then, you would need to take your remaining piggy to find him his own new friend, again, ideally via rescue dating so that you don’t end up with another failed bonding

We can in theory get 3 piggies - I suppose the ‘running costs’ of an extra piggie is that must more! ;-)
The cage is, if opened up it’s certainly big enough for 3. I wonder if it may become a case of, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all 3 can get along?
I’ll look into taking the new piggie for date - I live in Droitwich, I am sure there are places local.

It’s just such a shame, as the old piggie seems to have accepted living alone, whilst living side by side with the new piggie. Whilst the new piggie just isn’t happy :-(

Sorry, by three piggies I meant having a pair and a single piggy - you get a new friend for your lonely piggy in one cage and your older piggy remains single in his own cage. You cannot put three boars together in one cage as they will fight

For your lonely piggy to have a friend, you will need to expand his cage to be a 2x5 c&c (even if you still allow some free roaming)

I echo everything that piggies&buns has mentioned above. Please do considering taking your lonely piggy rescue dating if you have the space and the funds for 3 piggies. You will have to have a twosome and a single living side by side as 3 boys sadly can't live together. Good luck!

Yeah - I’ll take a look - had a quick Google and couldn’t find any places in Worcestershire that do piggie dating for the new piggie

And this evening - he (second day in a row) rattled the c and c cage so much he escaped ! - it’s not a life for the little guy :-(

Please do not advertise on the free ads; if you cannot find another solution, please contact the RSPCA Walsall or Worcester branch (the RSPCA do not offer piggy dating for unneutered boars and do not pair up boars; they have a very strict boar neutering policy).
