Yesterday i finally got my two girl piggies, Pepsi and Shirley, and Pepsi seems to be settled already. But Shirley is very upset and whenever i go to pick her up so she can get used to me she freaks out. They are used to being held and have been friendly when i saw them before they came to me. Should i just leave her to get used to my garden and me?

Give her time, 5 weeks in and one of my two is still very timid.
Good luck. O0

I would leave her another day or two to get settled. Some piggies are more outgoing and get settled within the day, wheras others can take 2 or more days to get comfy. I'm not surprised that she runs away because most piggies will do that for the first few weeks.
Good luck with the new arrivals O0

Hiya,

I wouldn't pick her up for a couple of days, just let her settle in. Talk to her a lot and offer food from your hand after a while to gain her trust. I have two girls who will sniff food from me but won't take it yet and I have had them two months, it can take a while but keep going she will get used to you in time. My girls are so much better than they used to be. I never had this problem with my boys strangely enough!

Good luck!

i agree with sunshine, i didnt even attempt to pick my piggies up until at least a week after i got them. i just talked to them, and worked hard to get them to like me by feeding by hand etc

I have experienced the same thing with my girls..Rosy still runs from me and she is not that trusting but each day it seems she gets better. Maryjane on the other hand is much more friendly to me and she loves to wheek for hay and food when she sees me. But as someone mention before my boys settled in quickly and seem as tho they are more friendlier. I have been winning everyone over with veggies from my hand. Just give her time.
