hi all,
I've had two Guinea pigs for about 5 years now (both female) they've lived outside for 3 1/2 years. Unfortunately I found one of them had passed away today, it must have happened whilst I was as at work as I checked on them last night and this morning and they were both fine.
I need advice on what to do with my other one, she is very shy and relied on the other piggie for confidence, I'm worried about her being by herself. Any help or advice would be much approciated.

Normally lone piggies just get depressed & pine away if left by themselves. Were they in the same cage, in which case you are going to get a friend, to share the cage. With the other one.
So sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry for your loss,is it possible to bring the remaining piggie inside,to monitor eating ,urinary and poo output.bereaved piggies can pine for lost companion.when you feel ready maybe you could look at the rescue locator, and think about adopting another piggie ,only if and when you feel this is an option for you.:hug:s to you.

So sorry for your loss. My boar recently lost both of his ladies within 2 months of each other. The posts above are good advice. See how she is, but she will most likely need another friend or she may become depressed by herself. This is what I found with my boar, he has 2 new friends now and seems happy.

Hi and welcome

I am very sorry for your loss!

Please bring your remaining piggy inside for company, but be careful to not overheat her, as guinea pigs are not so good at dealing with large jumps in temperature. I hope that your hutch s well insulated with the current frosty nights and cold days.
