I am sooo proud of my little Boar. He is 3 and 1/2 months old is so smart! Last Friday I decided enough is enough with the messy bedding and went out and bought Sweets a litter pan in hopes that I could switch to fleece (not as messy and way easier to clean). Well, Since Friday I have changed out his litter pan twice, because of the insane amount of usage, and today I decided to give the fleece a try. Now, I was expecting a few pee spots and a little bit of poo's every once in a while. To my amazement there has been maybe two or three poo's outside the litter pan and not one pee spot! Just 10 minutes ago I put him back to his cage and he hopped right into the litter pan, backed himself up into a corner of it and peed. I am so proud of him and so happy that I no longer have to buy bedding!

nice! i wish i could train my boys, but i have no idea how. I'm lucky my cats can use a litter box...but that was more of my mom's doing (teaching it i mean). lol

I definitely recommend trying :) they could surprise you just like my little guy surprised me. I am so glad I gave it a go, I had no idea what I was doing either but if you wanted to give it a try here's what I did.

Went out and bought him a litter pan and after I freshly cleaned out the cage I put it in the corner that is most used as the bathroom area. Then, I got on here and asked for some tips on how to go at this and someone said to put a bit of hay into the litter pan because eating will cause digestion and then cause him to potty, another person said to hang a water bottle in it because it also will cause him to potty. I also picked up his poo whenever I found it and threw it into the litter pan so that no where but the litter pan would smell like the bathroom I also picked up the wet spots and threw them in there as well. and even if I changed out the litter I didn't wash out the pan so the smell was still in there. Good luck if you give it a try, I definitely recommend it :)

hmmm thats interesting...maybe ill try it when we get the new C&C cage in a few weeks. my pigs are used to going in their pigloos, so idk if they'll want to adjust lol

Yes that is interesting and definatly something to try, when i get them there new cage in a few weeks ill give it a try thanks for the info!

That's crazy! My little guy wont potty where he sleeps. I really think it's worth a try even test out the litter pan with the bedding still in there just to be safe :) Give the pigloo's a good washing so the smell is gone let me know if you give it a try and how it goes!

yea i have heard that most mammals dont like to sleep where they poo. but it never fails, every day i clean out their pen and poo is all in their pigloos (usually up against the inside walls, but still), and even on their fleecy bed! it's bizzare. i dont know if it's because i use towels/newspapers instead of bedding, or what. I'm hoping with a new environment i can encourage new behavior...and yes, ill deffo let you know!

My four sows pee and poop just everywhere, drives me mad, the rabbits are so much easier to keep clean, piggies are messy little devils! I will talk to them this morning and tell them about your little fella, pherhaps they will listen lol :)p:)p
